ok, if you put holes in the buckets, 1, are they in the bottom or the sides, 2, do you have the bucket raised off the floor some, and 3, is the bucket sitting a drip tray or pan? yes, dumb questions, but hey, im stoned again, LoL.
All good questions actually lol, I feel kind of ghetto but I'll admit I didn't put much thought into any of that! All holes are in the bottom, the bucket isn't raised but you know how they have a little lip.. No tray, pair of old shorts to catch the runoff lol..

Oh and from what I've seen it only takes around 24 hrs longer to dry out then the 3 gal pots!! With this soil and my light setup anyway..

Nice grow so far, healthy plants. i have the freebie single Kandy Kush and also a Pack of Kandy Kush x Skunk by DNA. Not sure when i will start either strain. But I will pull up a seat for yours, subscribed.

I have had good success with bag seed in the past. I have always named them either late in flowering or after the first dry puff, usually from a single bud clipped before harvest. No idea why naming has always been this way, but it has. Some bag seed names i have used that i remember are Fat Boy, Vanilla Ice, 8 Week Freak, Mean Green, Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, and Budzilla. Good luck with your new strains, always fun.

nice, an old pair of shorts, LMAO. well my plan intails using the aluminum turkey pan i used for the reflector in the beginning and the 2 square buckets will fit in there perfect. and maybe having them sit just off the bottom with some type of spacers, i can see it all in my head, it'll work, LoL. thanks bro!!

cool names there krazy2, LoL.

Looking great as usually Smelly. I haven't been around in awhile but they look like they are coming along nice.

So are you still using that 250 MH? Sorry I haven't been around in like 2 weeks and there's a lot of pages, lol. A hps conversion bulb would really set you up nice for flowering, although I think they are pretty expensive. It'd probably be about the same price to just buy a new 250w hps.

Well since my outdoor is done and I don't think I'm going to be doing an indoor anytime soon, I'm going to have to live vicariously through you guys. Hope you don't mind, haha!

awesome grow man. just subbed. hoping to learn from yours as i get ready for my first harvest!
Thanks homer!! IF you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm just coming off my first harvest so I know it can be a little confusing deciding how exactly you want to go about it.

I'll come check out your girls when I get a chance.

Sup homie, I was wondering when you where going to drop back in lol..

Yep still using the 250 and your right the bulbs are about the same price as a whole unit with an external ballast... So I'm just going to stick with what I have for now and when I start up again I'll probably just use the MH for veg or decide to get another bulb for it at that point. Its wierd how the conversion bulbs are so damn expensive and you can get a whole unit for the same price..

But I do have the 200+ watts of cfl that are from a different spectrum so I do have a good amount of mixed spectrum in there still!

Have you heard anything about the CMH bulbs? There supposed to be good for veg and flowering..?

Yeah cmh is supposed to be good thru all stages civing plants what spectrum they need their whole life.I plan on trying one of those on my next grow

Well I woke up this morning to not smelling much at all in my room! All the carbon fliter is doing right now is sitting at the top of my closet on top of a cpu fan lol.. I'm going to build something a little more advanced here in a few hours, well not to advanced.. Just some duct tape,4" ducting and 2 pc fans :)

Its crazy I could have built like 4 fliters already for the price I spent on 2 jars of ONA gel that only lasted not even 1 grow!!

Oh if you guys are interested in the link, here it is Yeah cmh is supposed to be good thru all stages civing plants what spectrum they need their whole life.I plan on trying one of those on my next grow[/QUOTE]"]DIYCARBONFILTER

My question is,

IS it better to suck air through the carbon fliter, or push air out?

Nice, I'll have to do some more research on them!

WoW, the girls are really starting to blow up now. I had to move some stuff around, the temps are climbing back up now that the plants are growing closer to the light.. So I have to deal with that now lol, never ends! Everything is going great so far though, it was way to hot in there for about 30 min this morning but I quickly fixed that and now its back around 88-90 at the top of the canopies, damn temp issues..

Starting to see some swell on those. Delicious.

Do you have any sort of exhaust in there?
Thank you sir!!! The last couple days they've both shown some great bud growth, I'm loving the angry midget. She would be the perfect size for someone who was growing in a pc case or something similar, with a a smaller pot of course :)

As for the exhaust,
Just the pc fans but they don't do much seeing I leave the closet open when the lights are on. Thats why I was thinking of rigging something up. I really didn't have an issue before though so worst case I'll just move the 250 up a few inches.. I don't even think it would help with the pc fans if I cut a hole in the attic and vented the air out but I'm probably going to try it anyway.

I'll eventually get a nice fan but for now I have to make what I can work.. That is most likely the main problem though :(

looking great bro...the angry midget should have some dense buds in it at harvest...nice work
Thanks homie, she kind of reminds me of your little girl haha, short and fat!
Whats your guess on yield :)
Wow man looking great...Cant wait to see when its finished :)
Thanks propaghandi!!! Me either!

Yeah I just started a new job two weeks ago so I've been pretty busy. 2nd shift sucks! Thought I'd like it not having to get up early, but you have no life...Oh well, it's money and it's gonna have to do for now.

Well according to the specs provided by Philips, CMH are by far better than both MH and HPS combined. If I keep my 250w hps I'm thinking about picking one up when it comes time to use it. As far as I know they only make 250w and 400w at this point. I think I saw the 250w for around $50, which is still much less than a 250w Hortilux bulbs.

I think there are a few reasons you don't see many people using them. For one, as far as I know they are only available in 250w and 400w. The more serious/vet growers usually use 600w and 1000w so they can't try them yet. Another reason I think is that some people just don't want to change. I agree, if something ain't broke don't fix it, but I'm willing to take a chance every now and then if I do my homework. I think another reason is the lower lumens. The 250w CMH only throw off 20,000 lumens. Your standard hps is around 28,000 and I believe Hortilux 250w claim to emit 32,000 lumens. Sort of an old school belief that more lumens the better isn't exactly the case. Even though the CMH only emit 20,000 lumens, the enhanced spectrum makes those lumens much more available to the plants. If you do a google search you should find the spec sheet from Philips.

Personally, I'd go with a CMH if I had the chance. Just to be clear though everything I read about them is from the manufacturer. But based on the research I've done and my general knowledge of electrical/electronics, I think they are superior to standard hps. They put out more blue than a MH and more red than a hps. Keep in mind though that even though they are called ceramic metal halide, they are meant to be used in magnetic HPS ballasts. I don't think they will work in MH ballast or digital ballasts unless the digital ballast is rated for CMH.

Here's the spectrum chart from Philips. The other one is a plant photosynthesis absorption graph.

Just thought I'd throw in that this is what I gathered solely through research. If I'm not completely accurate or missing something please correct me.

The only reason I mention exhaust is I figured I'd mention what has saved me by 5 degrees or so (keeping me in the low eighties. I do the same thing as you and keep the closet open when lights are on, and then also put a floor fan pointing outwards on medium. It's the cheapest exhaust system I've rigged so far, be it ghetto-as-fuck.
