edit: just saw you're drip setup, please explain! I also see watering as a chore and was contemplating getting some kind of drip setup. Any advice?
When considering a drip system there are a few other things I would consider. I would consider a drip tray and where your run off is draining too. I have a 3x3 floor table and standing on 5 cinder blocks from home depot. I do not have a drain to waste system, so I drain from the flood table to a 5 gallon bucket and empty the bucket after each water, unless I'm flushing, then I use a pump to pump it out. After you that part out then you can think about creating the drip system.

As for the drip system itself, there is a 1 inch main tube and (9) 1/4 inch tubes that connects from the main 1 inch tube to all 9 of my plants. There are 1/4 connectors that make the connection between the 1/4 tubes and the main tube tight enough so water does not leak out from the connections. You can use drip stakes or make water halos like I did to water your plant pots. You can look at my very first post in this journal to get a visual of the halos. Plug an electric water pump into the 1 inch and drop it into your feed/reservoir.

I realize this is a very high level overview of the drip system. What I want to get across is that drip system setups can be very versatile and with bit of experimenting you can get one set up to meet your situation. I want to produce a more thorough documentation with full pictures of my drip, but thats going to have to wait until after busy season in April. My job is heating up and I'm working 60-70 hours. It fuckin sucks lol.

Cost Break Down
Flood Table - $86.00
5 Gallon bucket - $2.50
6 feet of 1 inch tube - $10.00
100 feet of 1/4 inch tube $13.00
1/4 inch connectors (20) $15.00
1 inch 3 way connector $ 2.50
1 Water pump $12.00
Total 141.00 (round to $150)

There is the cost break down. You can probably do it for cheaper some how. What cost the most is the tray hugger flood table I bought. You can probably make one out of something from HD for cheaper.

I was also going to ask so those 9 will just be ready to flip most Likly once you haven't the ones that are on week 7 now?
They will be just about ready to flip after I harvest the current 9. I've never super cropped so heavily before, so that much affect if I flip right away in 3 weeks or if I let them veg for a little longer. If they are ready I will for sure flip. I really hope to get the clones off the SFV plants so I can put them in 5 weeks after I flip the lights to 12/12 for the 9 plants in Coco.

303 well detailed journal. I myself grew og #18 about a year ago via aeroponics. They do stink and they do well topping in veg as well does super lemon haze. The only down fall is in your grow journal is the long and tedious hand trimming when it comes to harvesting. Lol. But keep up the good work my man. My next grow is going to be reserva Prada holy grail kush.

Dude, those things look wonderful man. I love me some OG Kush. and I don't even know what kind I have aha. it's delicious though. ad the two plants I got, one was a sativa and one was an indica pheno so I got experience both sides of the coin!

I grew out some kind of OG that I got from a buddy last summer. I've got it's clone running right now under a screen. lst'd and one of them was topped because of the height issues you're speaking of. I'm not as experienced quite yet, but I'm not a beginner either. THe last harvest was 3 1/2oz from 3 plants and that was from cfls. I got them on a 400 watt mh, and then a 400 watt hps and barely any soil this time.... if it's anything like these bad boys here, I'll be a happy camper dude! Nice work!

Hello Everybody,

We are at week 8 and day 5. This is NOT the strain to grow if stealth is going to be an issue. Seriously, I bought a carbon filter on October and I feel that its only 70% effective for blocking the smell. The final flush will be performed tonight with 32 gallons. I don't think I will do the two stage harvesting that I mentioned in the previous post - there is just not enough time in my schedule and I have to do it all at once. I have inspected the trichomes and they are milky at this point. There are a few clear trichomes and about 10% amber. Damn, harvesting going to suck. I know, a good problem to have right lol? I expect atleast 2 days of trimming with 2 people. I'm probably going to shut off the light Wednesday or Thursday and give the ladies 2 or 3 days of dark before chopping. There is not much more to say lets check out the pictures.

Veg Box Update:

The CC SFV plants are growing well and the Fast & Furious are going strong as well.

IMG_0476.jpgIMG_0478.jpgIMG_0477.jpg

The pictures above are of the OG #18 in Coco. I've been supercropping like crazy and noticed that it really bushes out the plant well. You can see the knuckles in the plan above. The bushed effect really allows me to control the height of the canopy. Those growing OG Kush with limited space, this may be a technique with experimenting with.

Now for the flowing pics...

I really like how this crop is turning out. I have a good amount of colas and minimal popcorn bud on the bottom. In the early weeks I cut away many of the lower branches. Hopefully this will lead to easier trimming. I HATED trimming lower popcorn buds in the past. Let me know what you guys think.

I found a dime sized whole in my 8 inch ducting. This explains how the the smell was penetrating into my entire house. The fan was sucking air through this whole and right into my vent system lol. I feel silly for buying used ducting and not checking for leaks.

Hello Everyone,

HARVEST:
I chopped my plants on friday! I shut the lights on Wednesday giving them about 2 days before chopping on Friday. It took about 10-12 hours total with 2 people. There were some surprisingly nice colas. I was singing the old Coke jingle the throughout the trimming - "Always Coca-Colas" lol. We managed to collect some sugar leaf to make dry ice hash from. I've never made hash before, so it will be interesting how it turns out. I have to say that trimming was way easier this time due trimming off lower branches early on to divert energy to the top buds. Also, some of you may be aware of my mistake of overprunning the fan leaves at week 5. I think the overprunning set the plants back a week! I think the plants took a few days to heal from the overprunning before continuing bud production.

I harvested at week 9 day 5. Some of theplants were definitely ready to go and some of the plants still had good amounts of green in them. As I mentioned before, I believe the overprunning pushed the plants back a week. All in all, I am happy with how the product turned out, but I do wish the leaves were more yellowed at the time of harvest. For this next crop I hope to better time my harvest and have more time in my schedule to harvest the plants top down to maximize their full potential. The plants will hang and dry for the next 5-7 days in my dry room. After that I will be put them into the jars to be cured for atleast 2 weeks before consumed. I'll be honest, I will probably try some within the 2 weeks, but I will write the smoke report based buds cured for atleast two weeks. I am a smoker that appreciates the aroma and taste of bud and I believe the bud has to be cured before the flavors can fully be experienced. Unfortunately, I haven't got to many pictures of the harvesting process, but I did take one after all the trimming.

OG Kush #18 in Coco Update

As some of you may know, I had 9 Og 18 plants that were in the veg box growing in coco that I concurrently reported on during this grow journal. I have now moved these 9 plants from the veg box to the main grow room. I will be producing a stand alone grow journal on these plants as well with more specific focus on some of the variables I plan to change. Some of the variables of emphasis in the upcoming grow journal will be Coco vs Soil, the addition of Heavy 16 'Fire' into the feeding regimen, The effects of supercropping the OG #18. I won't be able to do a side by side of coco vs soil, but I will do my best in representing the differences in yield, aste, vigor, positives and negatives etc. Here are some pics of the Coco OGs in the grow room.

photo-2.jpgphoto-1.jpg

As you can see from the pictures. These plants are bushier than the 9 plants that were just harvested. I really like the supercropping effect so far.

Closing Statements
I will have a final conclusion on this grow journal after I feel the buds are cured for the appropriate amount of time (2-3 weeks). Some of the things I will cover include yield weight, smoke report and nutrient review of 'Soul Synthetics". Things are heating up at the job for the next few months, but I'll do my best to have this up when I can.

I also want to ask if there any details I should include that would create additional value for this grow journal. I try to be detailed, but sometimes I miss things that would help or clarify. Let me know friends!

Great grow and this should be awesome the coco now if thought about trying coco for a while myself but I just like soil very easy haha, can't wait to see the dry weight do you think you hit higher then what you did b4 I think it said 18oz was the harvest weight before this one?

Good looking buds! How do you think #18 would work with Scrog?
Green Gun,

To be honest, I've never scrogged before. I've been fascinated with trying it out, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I would think it would do well. I'll have to study and try it one day.

Doubletake,

Yea - I'm definitely hoping the coco goes well. I'm already a fan about how clean it is and how much faster the plants appear to grow. As for dry weight, I'm hoping for atleast 18 oz. We'll see how it goes. I will be drying until atleast Friday night. I usually dry for about 5-7 days. I think with the greater density of the buds with round's grow, it may lean closer to 7 days. I dry in a cold room. The temps in that room are about 55-62 degrees. I can definitely smell the chlorophyll leaching out when I walk into the drying closet.

*Yes - last rounds grow yielded a little over 18oz.

Hello Everybody,

I dried the OG#18 buds for about 6 days in the drying closet before I clipped them off the main stems and jarred them up. I like curing in glass only. I have the buds filled two 1 gallons jars and two half gallon jars. I don't fill the jars all the way with bud as I look for a bud volume to air ratio of about 75-80%. I believe this allows the jars to reach the terminal moisture at a slower rate and I think slower curing equals better bud. This is only conjecture for now as I am still experimenting with my curing process. Lets have a look at some pictures shall we ?

All Jarred Up

IMG_0499.jpgIMG_0500.jpgIMG_0501.jpgIMG_0502.jpg

Aroma: at the time of jarring, the buds smelled very fresh and lemony. I expect the lemon smell to deepen after two weeks of curing. There isn't really any hint of the OG pine at this point, but hopefully those notes will develop in the coming weeks.

Color: The color of the buds at this point is a lighter whitish green. The buds are covered with trichomes. Its some very stick stuff!

Texture/Shape/Density: The buds are very dense. That is definitely one characteristic I love about the OG 18. Its not a super hard yielder, but the buds definitely come out heavy. Some of the main colas came out to be a little bigger than an average sized banana (peeled). I notice with this pheno that the bud favors latitudinal development rather than rounding out. I have to be honest, I rather have fatter round buds than longer ones. I also have to mention that the bud shape was very consistent among all 9 plants.

Weight

So I weighed out the buds the day after I jarred them up (Yesterday). I was hoping to get atleast 18 ounces. Unfortunately, I fell short of the desired yield. The total weight for this harvest was only 16 ounces and 10 grams. To say the least, I was quite bummed. It is what it is and I will continue to figure out what triggers this plant for higher yield.

I have a few guesses of why I yielded less. My first thought is that the lamp in the vented hood could not get as close to the plants as the Adjust -A- Wing reflector I had in the previous grow. Another definitive reason of the lower yield was my overprunning at the beginning of week 5. Another possible reason for the lower yield maybe the feed I was using this round. For the last grow I used the 3 part fox farm line up and some of the roots organic nutrients (not soul, but roots organic). I highly doubt its the feed though. I was very happy with the Big Swell and Peak for this grow. The nutrient review of Soul Synthetics is going to be in Part 2 of this grow journal conclusion that should be posted in 2 weeks. In the end, I am very happy with the aesthetic qualities of what I grew. We'll have to wait atleast 1-2 weeks before I give it a taste and comment on the smoke. Final thought - I yielded less than what I expected, but life 'grows' on and hopefully I'll knock it out of the park with this upcoming OG #18 Coco grow.

New Toy - New Lumatek 1000 watt aircooled Ballast

This has nothing to do with the actual grow, but I just got my new ballast in this past Friday and I'm pumped. This thing was on back order for the longest. it was 205 dollars with free shipping on Hydrogalaxy.com. This extra ballast is going to allow me to run 2000 watts in the current grow room. I currently have the quantum right now, which I love, but I've heard great things about the Lumatek. I hope the Lumatek is less noisy than the Quantum, because the fan in the Quantum is loud. Does anyone else have this ballast? If so, how do you like it?

Nice detail write up. I myself use lumatek ballast. Actually I have three. One digital 400 and two digital 1000's. They are all quite. You will like them. Is your next setup from clones or seeds? I myself will be doing a coco grow next weekend from seeds. This is my first time using coco as a medium. Hope yq do a coco journal. I think you may be able to yield more with less plants under your 1000. Im going to use 2x600's with 4 plants under each lamp. Good luck

Sky Rocket,

Thank you for your input. I will be growing from clone in the coco. I want to start the coco grow journal soon. I've been working some crazy hours at work and its been keeping me mad busy. What you are you growing in coco? Are you doing a journal? Your set up seems like it is a recipe for success. I have thought about doing less plants or smaller pots. I may have to try it out in the future

Wicked write up man :D

Looks like you still got some dank buds out of it though mate so that's always a positive! I'm looking forward to popping the OG#18 freebies I got, looks to be a nice strain :)
