Reservoir's and growing Airspace

I apologize if any of this has been covered previously; but i've been having a hard time finding a solid answer to this...

Im in the final stages of designing my F.A.G. Aeroponic grow (to scared to try the T.A.G. just yet... after i get a lil more space to play with maybe) and i just had a few questions pertaining to reservoirs, and growing airspace.

My first question is Reservoir shape and size. I know pumps need x amount of water and x height requirements. Aside from each pumps specific requirements; are there any advantages/disadvantages to using a shorter but wide res opposed to a tall res? Basically; how important is res shape? No matter the shape; im prolly shooting for 10-15 gal... prolly even more like 15-20...

Also; i noticed a lot of aeroponics are really a Aero/NFT hybrid system. Is there an advantage to this? Cause my thoughts really are that (and this really applies to any NFT or DWC hybrid type setup) once your roots are long enough to reach the NFT, isnt the aero part of it no longer very effective? What if i gave them (usually i see the 4" fence post) say 6 inches; or even a foot of space for growing... and even pumped fresh filtered air in during the mist cycle to give fresher air for growth and less chance of disease?

Im doing a 16 plant F.A.G. S.O.G. under a 250w HPS Lumatek (Will be 400w when i can vent better). Its gonna be about 95% DIY, and super stealth. The only thing i wont be modifying myself is the Lumatek ballast; because a DIY 250w ballast just doesnt compare.

Thanks guys... hopefully this is my new hope to learn, share and well... grow knowledge and plants

P.S... would two mothers (and my DIY aerocloner) in a 2x2x2 closet provide 16 decent clones for each harvest?

Dont know about half what your talking about. 15 gallon at lowes works great until you keep growing veg like me. Im overwhelmed with the size now but cant complain too much. Shorten the height water has to travel up it really helps for pressure and o2. I was taught to super crop i may reccomend just lettin them grow. Check out my pics im new to this and have been pretty successful.
