right or wrong way of trimming need help

im going to trim tonight and need to know do i just trim the leaves or do i cut it at it's branch and how far down do i cut it on the branch and all that stuff so any info would help

I have to prune a lot, and what I recommend doing is cutting the stem of the fan leaf, about half way between the first leaf an the stem. This allows a new shoot to form at the junction, these can be used for cloning. Tearing the whole fan leaf off can damage the main stem, and prohibit further growth in that area.
