Hey guys,
This RockWool treatment I see online to lower the PH.
Can I just use some PH down until I get to 5.5 and go that way.
That shit is 30 bucks a jug.
Could not find anything like this in the FAQ's or the DIY...
Anybody?

rockwool will be lightly acid if keeped wet... if you want to lower the pH some, since the rockwool isn't acide enoug on its own, you can use some viegar as cheapest way. but that a bottle of pH-down should cost $30 is a damn rip, 8-15 bucks are okay, but this would e a rip off. check our local walmart, they got the stuff cheap;)

I use a little bit of rockwool soak treatment, but for the most part, I have found that to get the PH to stop rising on Rockwool, make sure that you soak it thoroughly before use.

I don't mean throw it in a tub for 24 hours like everyone suggests. That is good, but the KEY is to RUN water through it for at least an hour. Just flush the shit out of your cubes in a bathtub faucet for at least an hour. My PH BARELY rises anymore now that I do that. I adjust my ph maybe once a week depending on how much water I have top up with in my resevoir. Used to see it climb daily, now it doesn't climb hardly at all.
