Rockwool wet without waiting 24 hours to put the seed

Hi guys,

Last night i was a little high and i made something wrong.

I've been germinating seeds on paper towel, and last night i've putted the seed on rockwool. I've wet the wr and put the seed without waiting that dries.

Now (16 hours late), the rockwool remains wet under 40 watts light and a plastic to keep it humid. Should i put the rw in the sunlight for a little to dry or its ok to leave it the way it's?

I'm asking this because i know that i should waited 24 hours after wet the rockwoll to put the seed, and i'm afraid that the rw it's still to wet. The seed hasn't sprout yet.

By the way, how should irrigate the rockwool, just sprinkle water a few times a day or should i wet the bottom of the rockwool?

Thanks!

I've never waited, I soak for 30min and squeeze out extra water and drop new seedlings directly into RW, I don't use a paper towel and I have 98% germ over the years and seeds pooped with the codeledan (sp?) within 3 days.

keep them in the dark until they crack normal room temp is fine
when the white tap root pops out 2-3 days and is just under 1 cm long
put the root end inside the wet cube with only the seed shell poking out .. lightly push the rockwool around the stalk so its standing up nice and firmly and not too loose in the hole its sitting in
put them under the light at this point , they can handle pretty strong light, which keeps them from stretching

peace :)

Well i've learned a lesson: be sober when taking care of your garden. The rw is screwed, it opened half. I've moved the seed from the rw to the soil, i hope it begin sprouting (it's been 6 days since i've started germinating then on paper towel).

I used to use paper towel method to germinate seeds and get like 95% germination. But then i made a little Tupperware dwc cloner that fits 1.5 inch rockwool and started cloning with it instead of soil and got 100% success rate and decided to try it with seeds and got 95% germination with it. Then i started putting them in ziplocks instead and it hasnt failed me since. I tried going back to paper towels twice and NONE of them made it... so i no longer use paper towels i just soak the rockwool till its an even dark color then shake out water till it is all an even pale color, then i drop the seed in and within 24hrs all of my seeds are usually cracked and have a tail. only the slow few are just cracked after 24hrs. The only problem is sometimes they end up in the rockwool upside down.

LOL pointy side down my man :) I always worry I get it wrong and always double check though before planting.... but I to just drop in RW 98% success and the failures were a couple bag seed so....
