hi thanks for taking a look at ma post.

So got a new grow room in a single garage. plse see pics. temp great so plants in. Never used a light mover before but pal convinced me to install a single track rail, with a bar hanging 2 X 600w down over the grow trays balanced either side of it, like a set of old school weighing pans.

Can anyone please advise me on optimum length of travel of the lights on the mover ? Each tray can take up to 20 plants but this means a 7ft run up and down the rail but I can adjust.

Cheers,

You would want to have the light mover run the distance of the entire nft tray for every plant to benefit entirely from this system. In theory the closer the light gets to the plant without burning it the more light it absorbs. it just depends on where you plan on mounting the tracks and how they're running. Will one light passing by hit both nft trays etc. Good luck!

I have a similar setup, two four foot trays set end to end with 16 plants per tray and two Light movers...my trays are in line with the movers traveling their full seven foot length. The 600 watt lights have 18 inch shrouds, so I set the lights over the outside two foot of each tray so that the lights cover the entire surface of both trays in each full pass. The lights pass each other at the center line of the two trays going opposite directions each pass. With your trays sitting side by side, you don't need the full length of travel, only that amount which would completely cover the trays. My travelers don't have an adjustment for less travel, it's all or nothing.
