RSO Advice Tips needed please

I'm looking for advice on making rso please.

I have watched 2 video's on youtube that are very helpful.

1st is the Rick Simpson rso tutorial video, next is...

We are going to be making the oil in small-ish batches, for a friend with cancer. The grow will be ready in about 1 month, but getting prepared now.

Before we start, I have some questions. Also I'm looking for advice and tips please.

Does the bud need to be dried and cured before we make it?

What should the trichomes be like? Milky or amber, or a mix?

How long can the oil be stored for? Is it kept in the fridge normally?

That's it for now, thanks ;)

Best bet if you can, is to get a Magical Butter machine. I just made RSO for a lady with cancer. Small amounts are a lot more work than making enough for a 30 day supply. I used 1 lb of bud and it made 65 grams of RSO, not typical but using the MB consistently gives higher returns than other processes.

With this machine you cook the weed and alcohol for 1 hour at 130F. Don't decarb! All. you do is add the weed and alcohol. Just like a bread machine, it does all the work! After the material has soaked for 5 minutes, the blender comes on and chops/stirs the mixture about every 15 minutes. When its done, strain thru the included 90 micron bag. Evaporate off the alcohol by putting the solution in a large glass dish. I suspend mine in a hot water bath until the alcohol is gone.

This resin is very messy. I draw the resin up into 2ml syringes for dosing. The syringe also works well to fill size 0 capsules which gives about a 400mg dose.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I'll look into that now

Looking at the horrible state of people after chemo, surely rso is the way to go?

I think to have a chance with the rso, the ph of the person with cancer must be slightly alkaline, or they've got no chance anyway...!

and what is your reasoning for that statement? RSO has helped a lot of people with cancer, etc.
It's the hash oil that is helping, not the extraction method. RSO is dirty compared to other methods. But if it works for you, cool.

@Bugeye please can you explain yourself. What do you mean rso isn't a good way to go? How is it dirty? Thanks

1) the wash time is too long - you will get 95+% of terpenes and cannabinoids in first couple seconds, after that you are extracting chlorophyll and waxes, etc.
2) the alcohol or solvent is warm which compounds the issue of extracting elements with no medicinal value.
3) the cook off of is based on getting the solvent to evaporate and not the ideal decarb time and temp to maximize results.

Ok thanks, would it be best to decarboxylate the weed 1st then? Like 27 minutes on 250, then 5 minutes cooling? Wouldn't that have the thca and cbda, turned into thc and cbd to maximise the potency of the oil? That was how I understood it, therefore when the alcohol is burned off, it's still been decarb'd so will be extremely potent...

What are your thoughts on that please?

My preference would be to do smaller batches of qwiso and then decarb the qwiso. Just a little more control over quality that way. But if it is working for you as is, no worries.

I haven't made any yet. This thread is certainly opening my eyes to the challenges ahead  I'm going to look up qwiso now. Thanks

search for the Qwizoking thread on it! Good luck!
Thanks. I just watched a video where somebody made qwiso hash? Is that what you mean? Sorry I'm a bit dslow. I have ptsd and struggle to learn stuff. Are you saying I should make her qwiso hash? There were video's for qwiso shatter. So I assume qwiso is the extraction method? Can I make qwiso oil?

I'm going to look at that Qwizoking thread now. Thanks

Shatter is just a solid form of hash oil. Heat it up and it turns to oil. The strain you run and wash time have a lot to do with the results you get.
