Well here it is, the beginning of my diary! First some parameters.

11 seeds, 1-6 are seeds i had kept for a long time, 7-11 are seeds my roommies gave me from what they bought, but it was from hydro.

MG soil mix, mixed with 25% perlite for more aeration.

11 growing pots so that they're easily seperable when i find the stinkin males.

(2) 40W fluor, one cool white, one plant/aquarium designed bulb, 4' long

Use nothing but spring water for watering. Cheap fan from cheap store to circulate air inside "grow room".

And here are the beginnings:

Day 1

Around day 4

Day 6

Day 9

Day 12, morning time

i want to keep these guys relatively small scale, after all i have 11 of the fuckers... and i was worried about pot size, but don't really want to upgrade it. right now they're sitting in 5" DIA pots. I keep hearing the transplanting causes hermies. What do I do, transplant them or leave them alone? If necessary i'll post pics later of the size of the pots.

Use some Vitamin B12 when you transplant. Transplanting them isn't hard, Wal-Mart has cheap pots. Really Cheap!!! I don't know how much bigger they are, but you shouldn't need to transplant them just yet (looking by the pics.) But I would do it about 2 weeks before you start to flower.

Peace!

Runagi: my advice to you is to get up on as much game as you can about growing. I would suggest 1) Jorge Cervantes- Ultimate Grow Video 2) The Cannibis Grow Bible 3) Buy a hightimes 4) Read this site's postings. The first two are available free online if you know how to find them. Re: Transplanting- If you are going to flower you will need larger pots, Im not sure what hermies are, but the VB12 is a good tip. Wait until the plant is "pot bound" (roots growth blocked by pot) until you transplant. All this is covered in Cervantes Video. Also, when you flower you will need a HID (high intensity discharge) grow lamp like a HPS, or MH. If you put one of those in that little ass space you might burn the plants. I am no pro grower so if anyone has better advice...

I'd get the lights a lot closer. Your plants are stretching. Like maybe 2-3 inches away with the lights. They shouldn't be very hot, so don't worry. Those flouros will be good for early stages of vegging, but when you transplant to bigger pots, I'd get some good cfl's or a MH setup.

Hermies from transplanting? Sounds like you have a bit of info mixed up. Some people say stress and lots of heat can influence sex. I'm not to sure about that. If you rip some roots when transplanting, that can cause some stress. But if you transplant right, you shouldn't have any problems. I'd get some better soil when you transplant. Somethan organic like Fox Farms Ocean Forrest.

PH is a very big thing here. You can do a lot of bad things, but from experience, if you have your waters ph thrown off, you will kill the plants quick. So get a ph test kit for your water. Your ph might be to high, so for that you will want to get some ph down. There are house hold ways to lower the ph, but I would just go get some ph down. You can find this at your local pet store or anywhere where they carry aquarium shit. It will probably run you like 2-4 bucks.

Looks like you need a thermometer and humidity gauge as well. You can pick one up at Wal-Mart for real cheap. It will tell you temp and humidity. Good temps will read 70-85, no higher then 85. Humidity for veg is good at 45-60 percent. Can't get your humidity levels up? Go pick you up a cheap humidifier. You can find those at Wal-Mart as well. They are in the pharmacy section.

Get some fans if you don't have those either, will make good for circulation.

As you get more into this, you might feel that you need more stuff. Just take a look at other peoples grow journals. Good luck my friend.

-The lights are about 1.5 inches away.
-I water only with spring water, not brita filtered or anything, so PH should be right on the money, but i'll test it.
-I ordered a 400W HPS system and it's coming this week.
-I'll look for those books, but I'm constantly scouring this place and google for info and ideas :-D
-I have a fan in there, just wasn't in the photos, those guys love it!
-I'll pick up thermometer/humidity gauge.

Thanks all appreciate it.

Here's some pix of day 15...

Only two weeks old and they look great! My plan is at the beginning of May to switch to 12/12 -- i'm trying to keep them small and bushy, not tall, but w/o compromising potency, a tricky combination!

My top two strongest

Overview

From underneath?

#1!

It may very well be too early to tell, but these look like indica strains... Sigh, ah well, I wanted sativa to get the giddyness not sleepyness, but ganja's ganja :-D

The 400W HPS is here, and the company upgraded my order for free cuz they were out of the stock shyte... So i got a slightly better system and the HPS bulb designed for plant growing HELLZ YES!!!

OH GOD I don't want to see the electric bill, LOL. My babies are 17 days old; at the end of april, they're hitting the 12/12 cycle.

Well if you've been reading the plants problem section you'll see I ran into a whole world of problems... Update:

Transplanted into foxfarm soil
corrected pH of water (was too high)

My plans were to switch to 12/12 today, but I think my plants need time to recuperate.

Here are pics of what happens when you don't do it the right way from the start; I can only hope they catch back and continue growth.

How much do you water? By the looks of them, seems to be a watering problem. They also take on that look when they have outgrown their pots. They don't look big enough to put into 12/12. Might want them to get a little more mature. Yea you can put plants into 12/12 whenever, but you won't get a good yield.

They look big and tall but if you look at the nodes, there's only like two or three huh?

I was trying to avoid transplanting into larger pots, for space reasons... But i guess i will if i have to... I'm gonna wait it out a little more.

The plants looks better, but some of them have some leaves that look damaged, and one of my best ones has leaves that look yellow on the outer edge... Crap man, this is not as easy as it looks. :(

It is if you take care of them!

Y0nK!! Z0Mg!

We will get these babies up and running again man. If they still look all droopy like they did in that last pic, I would go ahead and transplant to bigger pots. Yellow dead spots on the ends of the leaves could be the early signs of nute burn...watch out!

Ok guys, update: They're 29 days old and I need to get ready to put them into flowering stage; I know its early but I'm doing a speed grow, not a more appropriate toke your time grow hehe...

Watering approx. 3-4 days apart. Started using foxfarm grow BIG at 1/4 to 1/2 strength. Ph at approx 6.5. Tallest plant is at 14". Shortest at 6". Still watching leaves closely, as a good number of them have some yellow on the ridges and a few brown spots (yikes).

Let me know what you all think, in terms of its growth and my plans for it.

Looking better! Post up some full plant shots, but from what I can see you are doing 100% better. They are alive and sexing anyways, lol.

I think you have to bite the bullet and transplant them. I suspect that will fix up the last bit of troubles you have. You can order some square pots or buy some grow bags from your local Hydro guy or online to save space. Plus losing a male or two will help.

Are you feeding them every other watering? Looks maybe a tiny bit heavy with the nutes yet. Otherwise you sure are figuring it out. Keep it up.

Don't give up on those plants that you think are male just yet. From what I've noticed, males tend to show sex in the first week of 12/12. If you don't see balls all over them yet, that's a promising sign.

Well, despite all the craziness, the plants have rerouted most of their energy into flowering, and it looks great. I don't know if these buds are small for their age, but you all can be the judge of that... ENJOY and lemmie know what you think!!!
