Here is a list I made for H&G. Run their line without having to buy all their expensive additives. You can run subtitutes, example Algen extract is $82 for 1 Liter compared to 1 gallon of Growmore Seaweed for $30. Not only is it a better value, you also get WAY more. Run Soil A or B or Flakes. I'm using the Cocos. Shop on Amazon or somewhere cheap. These are Amazon prices shipped.

Run these:
Cocos A 1 Liter Cocos B 1 Liter $33
Roots Excelurator 250ML $59 Don't skip out on this! There is no substitute!
Top Booster $32 1 Liter
Bud XL 1 liter $49
Shooting Powder $16 per pack each pack is 25 gallons.
Total $189

(Optional)
Magic green 250 ML $26 Too expensive I might order a a sample first to see if it's worth it.
Nitrogen boost 1 Liter $60 ( I'm looking for a good substitute) Ideas on this one? It might not mix well with other lines.

Substitues: More bang for your buck!
Algen extract $82 1 Liter (Growmore Seaweed extract 1 gallon $30 shipped)
Multi Zen 1 Liter $40 (Great White 4 ounces $34 and Aqua Shield 1 Liter $14 worm castings $5 Shipped total= $53 Brew a tea out of this and it should make hundreds and hundreds of gallons. You'll never need MultiZen.
Amino treatment 250ML $70 (X nutrients -Amino Blast 1 Liter $18 shipped and Bonticare Silica Blast 1 Liter $14 shipped total= $32 $32 for 1 Liter Vs $70 for 250ml.
H&G Total= $192
Sub Total= $115 Will last a seriously long time!

Total line $304 without options. Not too bad considering you wont have to buy the substitues for a very long time.
Total H&G line $381 without options. Buying the entire line at the Hydro store will run you around $500 with tax.

well it still expensive for me...i like to use Dyna-Gro, they re cheaper but high quality and more stronger. For example, I bought Pro Tekt a quart for 18 dollars, Foliage Pro , quart for 19 dollars, GROW , quart for 19 dollars, and Bloom, quart for 19 dollars, I only paid about 85 dollars included tax.

about 10 plants that are harvested and still have plenty of those nutrients. Its pretty big bang for your money.

Im gonna try the aquaflakes and dripclean for next year after i saw what i like in Homebrewer s journal about this aquaflakes.

happy gardening.

I have tried several brands of nutes and I have not noticed as big difference until I switched to H&G. When I was using GH, I couldnt grow, it's powerful stuff! The H&G lets me raise my PPM through the roof without burning my plants. I ran 600 ppm on little seedling as a test and while it did burn the very tip of the tips, it didnt spread or kill them. Roots Excelurator is the best thing that H&G has. If you dont use them you need to try that stuff out atleast. I called them and asked for samples but they said they don't give them out anymore :(

If you're into hydro, H&G's Aqua Flakes is a solid product and while I'm not a fan of companies that split up base nutes into multiple parts, at least these two parts can be used from veg to harvest. It's also very cheap and more concentrated than any two part system I've ever tried. While I'm sure H&G's additives do provide a little benefit in some cases, they're not needed which makes running H&G very affordable.

I have run trials with Veg-Bloom, AN conni, Dyna-Grow, and H&G now! I also have and am trying out now, Great white, hydro rush, and MX Clone by X Nutes! The mx clone is some really good stuff so far! I am working on a post of all my results, need to see how everything turns out before I open my mouth!! They will be compared to what I have used for the last couple years Maxibloom, and Koolbloom!
Also Roots Excell by HG was actually recamended to me by the AN rep that stopped in my local grow shop. He said and I quote "We have nothing that will compete with RE at this time!"

I have been running the H&G substitues for a week now and my plants are really taking off! I'm basically running the whole H&G line for $189! The additives cost me $83 shipped! Nitrogen boost is not really needed.

Cocos A 1 Liter Cocos B 1 Liter
Roots Excelurator 250ML
Top Booster
Bud XL
Shooting Powder

Algen Extract= Seaweed with trace minerals (I bought a gallon of Growmore for $30 and I use 1.5ml per gallon)
Multi Zen= Beneficial microbes ( Great White + worm casting+ Ancient forest tea)
Amino Treatment= Amino Acids + Silica ( Bonticare Silica Blast $14 + Xnutrients amino Blast $12

I think the H&G amino treatment is the biggest waste of money because the amount you get 250ml for about $72 average and the amount you use 4ml per gallon. I feed with about 3 gallons, that's 12ml (4x3=12) 250ml / 12= 20 feedings! No way am I going to spend $70+ dollars twice a month.

I am about 20 days into flower and the H&G is standing its ground with maxi/KB line! The HG ak 48 plants are looking much better than the M/KB ones The Pineapple express plants look about the same but M/KB seems to look a little hardier! But my Hempy Bucket M/KB is kicking major ass! Better growth, better color, bigger bud and more bud sites! In a week or 2 I will have a HG Hempy bucket in so we will see!! Has anyone ran HG with hempy buckets?? PM me if you have any info on this Please!

i never understood why someone would use a single part nutrient like Dyna when you can have so much more control over your nutrients with a 2 or 3 part system for the same price. i would much rather deal with 2-3 bottes and the added control over my nutrients than be a stuck in a corner using a single bottle formula that forces me to stick to their NPK ratio and doesn't allow for tweaking based on plant performance and strain differences. plus, Dyna is not even on the same level as far as performance when compared to so many of the other quality nutrient companies. H&G is great stuff.

GH has done nothing but burn my plants for the most part. I have used GH but I have to be really careful with the PPM's. I messed around with all sorts of ratios and used GH for 7 months. I won't buy another GH product again. Now that I'm running House & Garden, GH products feel like garbage to me. It's like going from a Volkswagon Bug to a Cadillac!
