This is a very dangerous situation.
The appeasement of Putin is very similar to the appeasement of Hitler.
We took out our missile defense from Czech and Poland.
We allow them to annex part of Georgia.
We bend over for them in Syria.
Now all eyes are on the Ukraine.
No, I don't think putin is hitler. But he is obviously an aggressor. And we are letting him aggress. I think it might be too late now, we might have to fight him.
The scary part of a war with Russia is that since we are both nuclear powers, it could get very ugly. No strategic bombing of Russian cities and factories, too easy to confuse with a nuke attack.

both are willing to put lives on the line for the sake of their own political pissing contest with their high nationalist ideals. that's what makes them dangerous. mccain has nothing to lose because he isn't president (the fact that he was running for presidency with these underlying attitudes towards other countries is scary), but putin thinks hes got nothing to lose because of the shear size of his country/military, either way its a bad combination to be had. nobody truly wins, and large amount of lives would be lost.
mccain has been on the news for days since this whole deal broke out saying we need to militarily intervene, that sanctions aren't strong enough to matter.
but don't you see, what he is proposing WOULD lead to an all out war, there are other players involved and they'd just love to be in a proxy war as a chance to show their capabilities off. just look at the shit storm he caused by demanding that we arm the syrian opposition (which we foolishly went along with after a while), now its a terrorist free for all where anything goes.
