Sand Instead Of Coco ???

Ok, yeah i'm new to this, so i have a question about a thought that i have been having. Please read this in its entirety. How would sand do instead of coco in soil recipes? I don't know about the ph of it, but i think that sand could be good for cutting down something like FoxFarms OceanForest or SuperSoil. It has almost no nutrients if any, and i think it has good drainage properties as well, and roots could easily expand in it. but please correct me if i am wrong, but wouldn't earthworms and microbial life from living soil like sand, something they could easily eat and digest, as opposed to coco? Thoughts, comments, and ideas are greatly appreciated.
