Sand like soil

i recently aquired some plants from a friend and she potted them in this sand like soil. I was able to re-pot 3 of them but 2 are in 7 gallon buckets and i dont know if the root mass will hold up because when taking the smaller 3 it crumbled as soon as i dropped it in the new pot. the 3 are doing fine i put em in 5 gallon buckets with sunshine mix #5. i was just wondering if someone with wisdom could tell me if im going to have trouble with the plant later on as far as air to the roots or nute defecencies. any feedback is welcome thanks in advance

Sand won't retain moisture or nutes I would highly recomend transplanting. You can break up the rootball in the process just be gentle

Air to the roots is good but I think you will have serious defficiency problems as well as watering issues. Be gentle with em and I'm sure you will be just fine

well, the plant isnt showing defencies so far, and before she gave it to me it had never got fed nutes or ph'd water its doing good now but what kind of defencies should i expect? How can i prevent them if i dont repot? im a lil scared of repotting one because it looks so vigourous i really dont want to harm it. i know air will be an issue i try and irritate as much sand as possible every watering .
