Day 56 of 12/12/

Technically the Somas should be done, but as you can see they've got another few days to go. They just don't look done yet, but the calyxes are swelling and pistils are starting to to curl up and die.

I'm giving this one until Sunday, cuz I'm running outta bud.

Dude couchlock during swiss autumn/winter is exactly what you want :weed:

and trust me they've still got a couple of days in 'em. Gotta wait until the calyxes are really swollen, the pistils have died and recessed onto the calyxes, and the plants should have an overall gold hue to it.

PLEASE don't buy into the whole "harvest based on trichomes" BS floating around this forum. Trichomes are just one indicator.

And by harvesting a pure Indica like my Soma early you won't get a Sativa high. You'll just get a weaker indica high.

The high you get is purely based on genetics. Let your plants get truly ripe to experience each strain's effect to the fullest :)

This is all so true it's not even funny. In soma's book, he says "If it looks done, wait a week".

Alot of people harvest their stuff too soon. Especially if grown from seed not clone. Usually adds an extra week or so on in my experience. +rep

I agree with you fully sandmonkey, fully... give it till you think its ready. after all you spent every amount of time and care into it that one possibly can.... dont throw all that hard work away because your out of ganj..... and the worst thing you can do is harvest too early. good call to what a few more days.. possibly more.

Thanks for all the encouraging feedback guys!

Here are my girls at day 60 of 12/12.

The 3 Soma's. Probably another 5 days or so. They're yellowing nicely:

And I don't think I've showed my lone Sage'n'Sour in a while:

It may not appear that frosty, but a closer look tells otherwise. At least 2-3 more weeks to go for this one:

Lookin nice man, great journal. No nonsense!

Im definitely ordering up some S.A.G.E's for my next grow, my buddy grew a couple in hydro and I've never seen longer, thicker colas from a 2x2 tent!

good luck and enjoy the smoke :joint:

i'm definitely gonna do what your doing this go around to see what happens, cuz my buds always seem kinda whispy...maybe they just weren't ready yet...

yeah happened to me before. Sometimes it's the strain, but the longer flowering time definitely helps, as does extra CO2.

I've also read somewhere here that a bit of blue spectrum light during flowering helps produce denser buds. Don't take my word for it though.

what are you using for co2? and doesn't the intake fan suck all of it outta the room? or do you have the fan timed to be off while co2 is being used?

One of these:

Definitely beats the yeast method :D

CO2 is heavier than "air" so it doesn't get sucked up so fast. I actually have the tube end stuck to my higher clip-fan.

basically?

it's a bucket of decomposing material, hence a lot of respiration and CO2 produced, which is pumped out via the airpump on top of the bucket, and the air released through a tube attached to a fan.

It really does work, and best part is, it's organic ;)

Just a little update on day 63 of 12/12:

the Soma's should be done any day now. For real this time:

I think they're even starting to turn red!
