sativa wont finish whats going on?

well heres the deal. I have a trainwreck from greenhouse seeds and this particular plant is very sativa dominant. it has been flowering for 11 weeks now and it still doesn't seem ripe to me. the buds keep groing with lots of new growth. the hairs are still about 60- 70% white with 30-40% being orange and starting to receed but no calyx swelling yet. the trichs on the other hand are about 60% amber. so I guess Im just confused according to the trichs its overdone but looking at the plant it looks like it could go a couple more weeks. Ive grown a few sativa doms before but this is the first I have seen this situation. thanks for your thoughts. on a side note theres gonna be at least an LB of dried bud off this monster.

60% Amber quick chop the bitch your on the way to garbage. Dude never more than 20% Amber IMHO The amber is caused by decomposition of the Tri-chromes that's why you chop when you see them starting to turn, that's the signal there done.

thats what Im thinking but the majority of white hairs and the calyxes not swelling is throwing me for a loop. I mean Ive had a few other veterans look at it and say ah you got a couple weeks to go atleast but then I show them a shot of the trichs on my digi microscope on the computer and their like damn its done. they also have not seen a plant that looks like its in the middle of peak bloom by the look of it and have the trichs be so ripe.

I have seen a few of my buddies plants do this. They generally didn't have the best setup. Plants are on a timeline when you switch to 12/12, and will finish after a certain time, dependant on the strain. If the conditions aren't the best, they will finish on time but may not be up to par in terms of size, density, ect. I'm not saying this is the case here, but it definitely sounds like it. I have seen it done wrong like that a few times.

That looks like a very sativa-pheno you've got. Why don't you take a bit off her, flash bake it, smoke it, and see if you like it. If you do, chop it. If you don't, let it go. I wouldn't go past 12 weeks with it, though. Some GHS sativa-phenos can go forever and ever and ever and ever...

well Im gonna have to take her down this weekend. it will have done 11 weeks and Ive got a few g13/haze plants that need to get into the flower room pronto. this specific plant is almost identical in smell and bud stucture as the lemon skunk Ive done so it should be nice. I have read a few things about sativas that dont really ever seem to finish or ripen so I think this one should be good to go. thanks for the replies everyone.

I also use the water absorption rate of the plant to determine if it is done. In other words if the plant stops drinking it is telling you it is done growing and close to completely done. If it is still drinking like it has since beginning of flowering then keep it going. Looks yummy!

Sativas or Sativa Dom can go much longer than 11 weeks. I have 3 strains going now which are my own crosses that take 14 to 16 weeks.
I must add you have some very beautiful girls there, just be patient with her I am sure she will be worth the wait.

Maybe bad genetics? I've read a lot of bad things about seeds from GHSC. I once grew a Sativa from Nirvana, free seed was not labeled and it was in flower for 3 months, I was always waiting for it to ripe but after 3 months in flower I chopped her down and she was crappy

Amber is a sign of lost/degraded/oxidized THC that has become CBN. Cannabinol is the primary degradation product of THC and increases in concentration with plant age. The concentration of this product in the bud is heavily dependent on the time of harvest. Harvesting the bud at a late stage also means that the concentration of CBN in relation to THC will be higher when compared to the peak of THC production. CBN is only mildly psychoactive and causes confusion and drowsiness which is neither a true high or a true stone.

Most Sativa dominant plants that I've grown, have taken a minimum of 10 weeks to complete flowering. However, if as you say 60% of the Trichomes have turned amber, it's time to harvest regardless of the new growth. It's time to chop. And do let us know how she tastes after a good cure. +rep for a job well done.
