Autos don't leave a lot of time to fix anything, so getting seedlings right is pretty crucial. I'm not great with them, but here's my current batch of young plants.

7 days above soil:

Here they are Wednesday, day 18:

Starting in those 4" pots, I fully saturated them til runoff every 2 days or so, when they feel noticeably light. If you're only pouring an ounce in every few days, you're not saturating very much soil, which doesn't encourage the roots to spread out. Small root system, small plant.
Shit. Well your the 1st person to telle to saturate seedlings. Ok. Well that's what I will do for now on.

Yeah I am sure it's to late for this damn seed.

Really? Assumed it was more or less SOP. It's the shotglass method that seems odd to me. Not sure I've really seen people advocating for that before. Maybe wait until some more experience peeps chime in, but I don't think I'm wrong.

** Recently had someone suggest putting seedling pots in a small pan with about 1/2" of water and letting them soak it up from the bottom. You want the roots to go downward, so making sure that part of the soil is moist and inviting is a good start.

Guess I was referring to volume of water with the shot glass. I actually use a spray bottle. Was just trying to give a visual representation of the amount of water.

Haven't been a drinker in a couple of decades, but I'm thinking a shot glass holds an ounce? Can't imagine many people think that's enough water for even a young plant, but maybe I'm the one who's way off.

I do not consume but a shot glass is 2 ounces. Anywho fully saturate. Got it

My letting it dry out thru Monday. Soak it and see if it doesn't anything. If nothing I will start a new seed.

This seed I had high hopes for. It started fast. Had like a 2 inch long root.

Same protocol. Germinate in wet towel. Transfer to soil and saturate soil every 3 or so days. Let it dry out a bit before rewatering.

Got it.

not a bit. the pot should get light. i am gonna say pretty light but not bone dry. just slightly damp in like 2inch deep. again with small pots easiest way to do it is just by lifting the pot to see how heavy it is.

Why does your lighting decide which type of seeds you grow? If anything, I'd think photos would be better for sub-par lighting, since you all the time in the world to get them to where you want them to be. I wish I would have made the switch from auto to photo sooner than I did. I don't think autos are nearly as beginner-friendly as some make them out to be. Every little mistake costs yield when you're fighting the clock.

I'm pretty up-and-down with getting seedlings going, but that shot glass every few days watering method seems like very bad advice. If that's how you've been doing it, I suspect it's stunted from chronic under watering. With an auto that size, that many days in, I personally wouldn't bother with it if I had more seeds on hand.
For seedlings, fill your cup with medium and saturate to runoff while the beans are soaking. Wait 24-48 hrs then put the bean in. Don't water again until the cup feels light and medium pulls away from the edge of the cup. Should be 4-6 days depending on your rh. Then, just a shotglass full every other day after that until they establish. Try to water around the outside of the cup, this will help to prevent damp off.

Cups are only half full so I can bury the stem more easily. This also helps the medium dry out a bit quicker. Shotglass full if water in a half full solo cup of moist medium is enough to get runoff. Just let it dry out a bit before watering again.

Most problems with seedlings come from too much love too soon. Don't start ringing her phone off the hook after that first date. Let her marinate on that last encounter until she picks up the phone and says "hey.. "
