Scotts (MiracleGro) bought General Hydroponics

Realize that big mike's conclusion is that you should consider not supporting a product that has such small margins... Wow, I didn't know AN had such high margins... :dunce: You're telling me I was ripped off??

AN is done... What a desperate argument... He doesn't care about you as the customer, he only cares about selling to his hydro shop "partners", and he makes that very clear in this video.
Lol his eyes were red as shit from sobbing. He actually said verbatim "profit margins will be marginalized"

If I owned a hydro store I would only stock a few simple products that actually worked and build a customer base who appreciate good advice, simplicity, and honesty. I've literally never stepped foot in a hydro store because of the security risk.

What Dad was sayin is that the price is going to plummet so all the other nute lines, including AN, will be forced to either drop price or commit suicide. Botanicare, humboldt and all the other high enders will be no more. less choice for you. All you will have is a MONSANTO infiltration into MJ market . evil fucks. @churchhaze : So Mike is a dick because he produces a product that people want to buy? Wow, what a dick. How about Apple, an american company, 98,000 employees 700 BILLION in worth compared to Walmart, employs 2.2 million worth LESS. Apple overprices their product because they can, just like dad does for his superior product.

The reason he looks like he is sobbing is because we just finished a fatty bitches.

I think you guys are a little off base here. Advanced nutrients is the only line that offers the Root and Stalk Strengthener Tribe as well as the Root Mass Expanders Tribe. You’ll witness amazing results from the fulvic acid and powerful non-ionic surfactant in the grow micro bloom base formula, which form a multi-stage delivery matrix to ensure your plants absorb everything. And that’s not all: Balance-Free pH Perfect® Technology works around the clock to calibrate and adjust the pH for you, so you never have to use meters or add harsh pH-adjusting chemicals ever again. No competitor offers this full spectrum of quality ingredients. Advanced nutrients has nothing to worry about.

Edit: Sorry about that fellas. I go into the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal and when I come back there's this douchebag with gelled hair typing on my computer -- I think he may have been crying too. When he saw me, he ran out the door and sped away in a Tesla -- weird.

Hey guy. A local feed and seed is carrying Fox Farms. Pretty good real estate shelf space too. Right along side old school real farmers use. It's coming around and I think you're right.
I like it.
Same by me(big city)down side is 29.99 for FFOF soil and 13.00 bucks for the pint of Grow Big.

One positive is that MG will probably have soil(s) more suitable for cannabis under this new Hawthorne brand. Soil seems to be MG's biggest weakness (along with Scotts reputation as part of the takeover of agriculture).

I wonder if the reputation thing can be overcome. The news story from last October seems to admit they need to distance themselves from that legacy. "The senior Hagedorn has made note of the company's need to reach out to Millennials who eschew big, suburban yards tended to with harsh chemicals."

Advanced Nutrient's rallying the hydro stores against Scotts/MiracleGrow/Hawthorne is funny. I've been reading about hydro stores deprecating AN. My local store moved AN to the back of the room and they closed out some varieties. My local store has GH at the front. This is like watching an episode of Survivor. Will AN get immunity? Will GH be voted off the island?

Oh no... price is going to plummet, and we're going to have "less choice"... Good.... There's only one way to do hydroponics nutrients, so what's with with all the choices??? Calcium nitrate, potassium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, etc... I'm sick and tired of 1000 versions of the same chemical.. Just give me the "monsanto version" and be done with it.

To me, the reason scotts bought general hydro is because the miracle grow packet they sell along with their aerogarden product just isn't making their customers feel hipster enough... so they bought GH to sell flora with their aerogarden instead..

Somehow about the aerogarden miracle grow nutrients must have been confusing people into thinking it's the same formula as lawn miracle grow... so they had to buy a trusted company. Even if miracle grow sells a hydroponic formula, the fact that it has miracle grow labeling on it will make people think its the same urea based lawn food. "I was told not to use miracle grow".

Edit: Maybe they don't plan on taking the margins down... Their refill nutrients bottle is 30 bucks a quart!!

It's all moot point for me.. :)

I'm pretty sure that communism is an ideology, and has nothing to do with limiting choices. Maybe you're talking about the Communist party in china?

One company buying another is one of the images that pop up when I think capitalism, which is completely based around ownership and rights to private property. I'm still going to make my own DIY nutes. That's my choice.

So a Russian has 5 different manufactures of bread to choose from? no. Big bro dictates what will be on the shelves. MONSANTO wants to dictate to you what to buy , as in Roundup which would be the only weed killer that keeps weeds from infiltrating your MONSANTO genetically engineered Marijuana plants. Just as an example. Communism is socioECONOMIC. But i'm high as shit right now smokin my spliff with mikee

So those are from competing manufacturers? Looks like different types of bread to me, thats all . You think Russia has an economic system based on competition? Everything on that shelf is there only because Putin allowed it.

They look they were baked right there... And I'm not defending russias political issues either. Fuck putin. I'm not a communist or a Communist either.. but that does look like choices.

Bread hasn't really changed in thousands of years. What do you expect them to put on the shelves? (unless you're talking about that preserved stuff! that's a new invention!)

(okay fine, that statement isn't very true.. lol)

Could be but Walmart gets frozen breads from many different vendors and repackages them. There is a reason companies can't willy nilly gobble up smaller companies because you are left with no choice.

One could probably make the case for monopoly but communism? That's just ridiculous. Monopoly is actually the unfettered extreme of capitalism. Antitrust laws have largely put an end to real monopolies -- i.e Rockefeller with Standard Oil and Carnegie with U.S. Steel.
