im doing a SCRoG under 400w hps, in 5gal hempy buckets in a 4'x2'x4'tall tent, centered out with a 3'x2' net. my plan was to run 3 plants to keep veg time down to 30 days max, is this the best way to fill a net the size im using in 30 days, not including seedling stage time, or should i run more/less ? thanks in advance for any answers

30 days isnt a long veg time... and 5 gallon buckets are taller than you think... Your tents only 4 ft. Im worried about heat and canopy(plants) getting to close to lights even with a scrog. It might work, but if i was you id use more plants and smaller plants. SOG kinda scrog. If you only veg for a month more plants i think will be more worthwhile. My 2 cents. I run a 4'x2'x4' and a 4'x3'x6' scrog

You would be better off with 1 gallon hempy containers imo. you won't be putting yourself into such a tight box as to how you will need to grow. plus having more variety is a good thing.

I would probably start off with more plants than I needed and remove the weak ones as the tent fills in. i'd veg like 12 plants out. pick the 8 healthiest xplant to 1 gallon container and flower. 2nd week of flower i would pick the 2 weakest and remove them and that will leave you with 6 really healthy plants that should yield well. you know you will fill the space this way too.

yeah and I have some 1.5hempies from my last sog, was worried that in doing that I may hit some rootbound plants before they completely finish

just figured anything less than 3 wont give me near as good of a yield, even with that short of a veg time.

I would go three gallons at least. With ones you will be watering every damn day I would think. I had trees in 18 gallon genius and they needed every three day watering.

You are limited in space but I think one month veg would be MORE than enough to fill that screen. You have to remember they almost double in size after the flip. Almost..but the amount they cover a scrog almost doubles for sure.

Cut the lower branches off now!!

havent started yet, waiting on quality beans... I have 3 5gal bickets, in the size tent im running should I cut the buckets down some or run 3 in 5 gal buckets and just train em at about 8 inches tall ? maybe 12 at most ? I have a cool tube and a good exhaust system

I run a screen approx the same size as yours.
I vegged about 6 weeks and 2 plants filled my screen easily.
Everyone thinks that more plants equals more bud but from my experience thats simply not true.
The more plants you cram under the screen the less room they have and the more pain in the ass to maintain.
I believe there is a formula for light per sq foot and some guys on here have proven that one plant can yield better than ten.
Its all about experimenting and finding what works best for you.
If i was using that size tent etc i would do what everyone above me said.
Grow out more than u need but id only keep the best four maximum.

I know from my previous experience that is very true, I ran a sog in small pots about 20 plsnts, upgraded the pot slightly and drppped to ten and still doubled my take

Time management is more important than number of plants.
Like i said four plants vegged for 6-8 weeks will yield enough for that small space.

Good luck
