10-12". I'd say you could grow four or five below this. Then you'll need a seperate cloning and vegging area. The pots should be very big. At least 10 litre, preferably 15 litre.

thanks skunk so a 3 gallon bucket for a 12" plant isnt that big? i guess you cant be too big but that takes up alot of space:( but if thats what they need thats what they will get..) but i thought it was about a gallon a foot..

If you only want your plants so big, then it's probably wiser (due to space) to put them in smaller buckets, pots sorry. I'm only an amateur myself. My tallest plant is now well over 3 ft. Are you going to bonzai your plants or are you growing those lowriders?

i planned on try to bonzi but im not very wise on growing yet these seeds were free so if i screw up its ok but if i do good then more power to it

Bonzai-ing your plants will be a good learning experience for you. Just remember the importance of the fan leaves, and topping your plant merely makes it grow more width-ways. Widow is the best person to ask about this as I know he prefers lots of plants in a smaller space. Also to keep the height down you could start flowering early.

God-Damn, where's the Widow? This thread is perfect for him to answer. Maybe you could try p.m'ing him. I suppose once would be okay so long as you don't make a habit of it. Chances are though that he'll get round to this thread sooner or later.

I really haven't got a clue how to do it the way he does, maybe in a few years. Sorry mate, i'm a learner too.

I would get 9 12" pots. The deeper the better. You can prolly get away with some 5 gallon buckets with holes at the bottom. The trick is to keep plenty of light on them so they dont stretch. My ak47 plants are pretty good at staying short and stocky. I have to work on all my other strands. You want the stems as thick as you can get them. I use a lot of root and base nutes but I have been cutting back on the grow nutes with pretty good results. Depending on the stain is when you should flower. I try to flower mine between 8-14" depending on the strain.

ps: 9 plants? Thats not a sea. Thats more like a mud puddle. lol. j/k

Widow: so you just keep lots of light as close as you possibly can to the plants without harming them? Plenty of ventilation, plenty wind?

How many plants is like asking how long is a piece of string. :blsmoke:

You can put as many plants under there as you like. Actually, the term Sea Of Green refers to growing many small plants with only 1 main bud. I used it and tried 1, 2, 3, and 4 plants per square foot. I settled with 2 being best for me. It all depends on the size of your medium, and the size you want to grow your plants.

Both Widow and I grow at about 2 plants per 3 square feet, and finish with plants about 3 feet tall, with 4-8 main colas.

In your 9 sqft, for 9 plants, that is 1 plant per square foot.

Or you could put just 1 plant, or 2, or 6, or 10, or 14. or 27, or maybe more...

Thats a great post Sir. I will have to add this to my 101 ?s.

My latest ones are closer to 9 plants per yard. They are not exactly sea of green but they are finishing up around 2 feet. Im really trying to keep them short. Its harder than most would think. :) I will go measure next time I water to get exacts. Ill tr to take some more pics too. I always forget my camera. :)

So your getting the best yeild with 6 plants per yard? Or is it just more feasable for you?

Oh, so you are now 1 plant/sqft. Yeah, I give my girls a little more room, but they are finishing at 3 ft tall. Also, I'm not squeezing them in, the canopy is airy, with light reaching the lower branches some.

I also have a plant number limit that I'm supposed to follow.
