Helo everybody. I am now trying to follow my dream to become a professional cannabis cultivator. in my country it is highly illegal to grow cannabis so i am trying to find a job in the US and eventually move there if i get a job. my question is, is there anybody here with contacts or does anybody have any recommendations for me on how to get a job as a grower. i sadly dont have any diplomas or such as a grower but i do have experiance growing and i have a lot of passion for it. any help would be much appreciated

I think you and everybody else on here want that. Need to suck the right dick and have a lot of money to get in to the business as far as I see it.

Especially in Illinois. Politicians diryty as fuck. Need to grease the gears if you know what i mean. All the grow licenses went to people who paid the right people.

Best way to start would be trimming buds but you gotta get in the country first.

They have a cannabis cultivation class at the community College but I'm not sure what kind of job that gets you.

I currently have no idea how hard it would be to get a job in the industry. I work in manufacturing so no clue how things are going for jobs in that area of work.

What I do know is that getting a green card is not easy. It takes up to 5 years to get one.

Find another dream. The most you would likely be able to get would be a low paying job as a trimmer or work at a dispensary. And it's highly unlikely that you would be able to get a work VISA to work in the cannabis industry. Nobody is going to sponsor you when there are so many people already in the United States trying to get the same job you're after. Forget about getting a job here as a grower. That isn't going to happen. The closest you'll likely get is as an investor in an already established operation. And that will take more money than you're likely willing to spend.

That's just the way it is. Lots of places going out of business as everything is bought up by those with plenty of money and controlling the market. Small guys are being tossed aside as billion dollar deals are being made. The industry is becoming so corrupt it's ridiculous.

Not sure about the USA but In Canada there might be a work program or something where you can get sponsored and subsidize to come work here, I don’t think you will be able to come and look for work without a lot of smoke and mirrors and jumping threw hoops. I would focus on getting into the country with any work, go from there.

Cannabis is still illegal under Federal law in the United States so there is absolutely no chance of obtaining a work VISA to work in the industry. Those are issued by the Federal government and not for jobs that are technically illegal. They might not be enforcing cannabis laws here in the states but they are not going to issue a work VISA for cannabis industry jobs.

Well good luck. But you can't work here without a work VISA and that process is complicated and likely nothing anyone in the cannabis industry is going to attempt and if so it would be denied because as I already stated cannabis is illegal under Federal law here. You can't just come here and work. You can visit as a tourist but if you get caught working without proper paperwork you'll be deported and could end up sitting in an ICE facility for awhile. But you will never be granted a worker VISA to work in the cannabis industry until cannabis is no longer illegal under Federal law. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your dream will never happen until the law changes. So best to move on to your next career option for now.

"Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Temporary worker visas are for persons who want to enter the United States for employment lasting a fixed period of time, and are not considered permanent or indefinite. Each of these visas requires the prospective employer to first file a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). An approved petition is required to apply for a work visa."
