Second grow advice

Hi, iv just finished up and cleaned my tent from my first grow, I got 12oz dry from a 600w hps bulb with 5 plants,
This time iv purchased a digital ballast and extra bulbs to suit the wattage as I was wasting energy when they were starting having the light really far away on 600w.

I'm going to do 5 plants again (maybe 6) but as I've got two ballasts now I might aswell buy another hood and use them both as I have the space in my tent.
Iv ordered another extraction fan and filter for the extra heat, my question is as I've only done one grow using 600w all the way through just adjusting the height of the hood.... can someone break down roughly when I should go from: 250w to 400w to 600w then Introduce my other 600w light?

Try doing your homework on "DLI" to obtain the moles your after. I run a 1000w hps in a 5x5 for flower. But my last run I did veg as well. My sweet spot for my indica strain was 600 PPFD which is 49K lux ish to obtain 39 moles in a 18/6 hr period. So I would start out at 450 ppfd and go up to a max of 600 ppfd. For flower I ran 75k lux to obtain 900ppfd in a 12/12. That way you'll know the height to adjust your light to your growing plants and achieve max growth and the wattage you need as well 250 400 600 etc. your environment and nutes will need to be dialed in as well.

So get a lux meter to get your values and convert it to ppfd. But definitely research "Daily Light Integral" and you'll start dialing your shit in alot better. I definitely did.
