seed production question

I'm on my third grow and running out of seeds so I though I'd give this a shot. I read some of the seed production guides here and thought I understood it, but I fucked up a little bit. I did isolate my male and let it ripen until the pollen started dropping onto the leaves. But here's where I messed up:

I plucked all the pollen pods off (the "balls") and dried them, and now I have a bunch of dried green balls with pollen inside instead of just the yellowish pollen itself. Can I still use this? I should have just tapped the pollen off... ugh.

The pods aren't crunchy-dry yet but will be in a few days. Can I crush them and still apply the result selectively to a few branches of my females? I sure don't want to pollinate the main colas. And I only want seeds from just specific plants, not the whole crop. With a nice fan blowing I'm worried I'm going to pollinate way too much and end up with seeds everywhere. I have a nice pure sativa growing with an 11-week flowering time and I don't want to fuck it up... I'll turn off the fan for a few days, but when I turn it back on again the leftover pollen might blow everywhere, right? Is there any way to neutralize the pollen a day after it's applied?

Lots of questions I know, as you can see I'm a breeder newbie.

thanks,

Well in the future don't dry your pods for days, the pollen doesn't last a long time this way, not to say you won't have any good left. Lots of different methods discussed on here but an easy way that has worked for me over the years.
I take my pollen pods off of the plant as they ripen and start to open, using a tweezers and small glass like a tall shot glass. Place the glass with the pods on top of my cable modem for an hour or so. Then I lightly crush up the pods which releases the pollen into the glass. Pick out the green material and then dump into my storage container with a kernels of rice for moisture. Place in the fridge and you have pollen that so far for me has been viable for around 8 months now. Note you need to allow the container to warm up a bit before you open after you take out of the fridge to keep from producing condensation. Pollinate and place back into fridge for next cycle.
Hope this helps, good luck

make sure that no fans are running while working with your pollen. You can lightly mist your plants a couple of hours after pollination to wash off any excess pollen

Wow a lot of that is strain dependent on the time frame. The sativas and sativa dom seem like usually in the 2 to 3 week range once they start to form the pollen sacs.
I use a mason jars with the wire clip top to store the little packets in. I haven't really used the colored or lightproof jars, I figure they are in the dark except when I open the door.
Anything else I can help with let me know, PM is always open.
