Seedlings and hps

Hey guys have a question.. My seedlings are starting to poke out and I'm wondering if I should put them under my 600w hps light right away or if not when I should. Also they they are also auto Flowering think different from Dutch passion. I have them in Styrofoam cups to seed should I move them right away to 3 gallon pots due to autoflower not liking transplants? Wait until they are little bigger and resilient?

I would wait untill roots poking threw bottom before i transplant bud and the 600 will be fine but make sure it is a fair distance away nt sure how far, I use cfl lighting for the 1st week or so till they get stronger

Well as far as distance I have my 400w hps at 50% (200w) and keep it at 18 inches. Maybe 3 feet? 600w deff puts out a lot of heat. Esp for a seedling.

Mounted sideways in a reflective bonnet I hang the 1kw hps at about 44" from the glass to the medium surface. This seems to work ok for seedlings. So i would have to guess that for a 600 it would be about 25-30".

I have have a dimmer on the 600w but when I dim it on the Ballast it doesn't seem to dim the light at all..at least .?Is that normal?

no point in wasting money use a cfl or t5 until they are established, lights are expensive to run and i bet even if you dont have a t5 set up you could get one for less than the first months hid electric bill then every crop there after will save you even more plus youll be ready for cloning and keeping a mother. your going to end up doing it anyway no point in killing what you have now. my first time with hid i fried the shit out of them, just remember you cant sit under that light for 12hr with it to close why would delicate plants be able to.

Bought a 24" HO Flourescent Tube today and built a little grow box. They are in styrofoam cups right now and they are about a foot from the tube right now. i have heat blowing in the box to keep it around 24 degrees and a humidifier blowing in the same hole to keep it moist. How long do you think it will take before the styrofoam cups are to small and will stunt growth? (thats when im thinking of transplanting into 5 G pots and putting them under the MH 600w.
