Seedlings

Hey guys, I've been around growing weed with partners for almost a year but now I'm venturing off on my own. I've always worked with clones but this time I wanna start from beans. Only question I've heard mixed reviews about is when to give your seedling light..as soon as you germinate it in your media? Ie Rockwool for me. Or some people say put it back into darkness after they germinate..any previous successful experiences you can share? Much appreciated

I always grow from seed, just prefer it I guess. I get Root Riot starter plugs. Google them you will find them. They are pretty cheap. You just put your seed in pointed side down and put them under an 18 hour clf/veg light with no fan on them and they sprout above the plug top within a couple days.

Hey bud! hows it going?
i just started my first grow and got 4/4 to germ. heres what i did:
dropped the seeds into shot glasses filled with distilled water and waited 24 hours. When i checked on them after 24 hours, two sank and two were floating. I read somewhere that if they are floating try pushing them down, and that worked! I waited 8 more hours and then i planted them in a mixture of happy frog, ocean forest, and perlite that had been watered down the night before. all my plants have been looking great so far and i havent used any nutes. ph stays around 6.8 which is where it should be. once i planted them taproot down 1/4 inch below the surface of the soil, i gave them light. After about 12 hours, the first seed sprouted and within the week all 4 had sprouted! i use 18/6 for veg.

good luck!

Just put the seeds right into your grow medium and let them sprout in the medium.
Why would anyone germinate seeds in a paper towel or glass of water?
Why wouldn't you do what they do naturally and germinate right in the medium?QUOTE=JKforty7;9866007]Hey guys, I've been around growing weed with partners for almost a year but now I'm venturing off on my own. JKf,
Sorry,my previous post was actually meant for a different thread. I put gentle flouros over the media right away...just like in nature.

To let the root system get nice and developed before putting them in medium. In nature hemp and natural weed use soil right away... have a low thc count also..needless to say that's not what I'm aiming for. Thanks for ur 2 cents tho

that doesn't make alot of sense but then I guess I should consider that it's coming from someone that has never grown from seed.
I grow in soil, put a hole about a 1/4" in the middle, drop in the seed, cover it to keep moisture in and two to three days later I have seedlings pushing up out of the soil.
No need to transplant the seedlings and risking damage to the tap root since it's already in the medium.
Makes sense to me.

okay well thanks for the info big bud..I might try a couple of beans in soil just to compare vs r/w just to compare cuz yea this is my first time so trial and error is inevitable. Any light suggestions for seedlings/germination?

I think Bagseed is the same as these strains that everyone is fussing over and spending all types of money. When properly cared for any plant has the potential to be great. There are large misconceptions involved in growing people over nute, bend up, tie down, clip, crack, scrog, stake and put all types of shit into there plants I am a purist I believe in good organic soil lots of light and clean fresh water everything else is unnatural. people will say what they will but results speak for themselves, If there was a certain strain or breed of pot that I like I might purchase it but the fun is in putting it in the ground and being surprised at what you get. I use bagseed from everyone I know probably like 60 different sources it makes every grow an adventure and every harvest Christmas day

some people say put it back into darkness after they germinate.
Some people are idiots. They need light as soon as they break ground.

Leave it in the dark a couple days and you'll have a spindly pale 5" seedling laying on top of the soil.
