Seeds sinking and floating and jumping

Well I decided to pre-soak my seeds in distilled water over my radiator on low. I placed 3 Purples and 3 God Buds in the water yet several of the purples immediately sank to the bottom while the rest of them stayed merrily afloat. Would it be advisable to revert to the paper towel method for my seeds or are they just straight up bad and if soaking these particular seeds may be bad? I was planning on placing them with the pointy end up in peat pellets come tomorrow morning but now am unsure... maybe im just trippin'

seeds will have different air content. don't trip. just throw 'em in a paper towel OR in your peat pellets ... and IIRC it doesn't matter which direction is up; they'll figure it out. and no, it has nothing to do with light.
