Seeds wont germinate?

Yo,

I signed up to this forum cos you all seem like good chaps who are well into something i'm obviously shit at.

I bought some seeds recently on a trip to amsterdam, some Amnesia Haze. Attempting to Germinate them now for coming on six days and i've had all of fuck all results. They won't move, they wont sprout and i've followed every instruction i can find on the sodding internet.

Wet paper towel, sitting in a slightly open DVD case, in a warm and dark area. Still wont show.

I'm an extremely impatient person, one of my many flaws, is it that or am i being bent over the counter?

Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Heya. For old or troublesome seeds, you can try cracking the shell yourself. You can do it by either using a very small and sharp knife and just make a lil crack in it or use a bit of sand paper and just gently rough down a bit of one side. Heat will help speed along the process so if you put it near a radiator or something, that should nudge it along. Good luck

i am very new to this all as well and very impatient. i was also having issues getting seeds to crack so i cracked em myself. i put them in my mouth one at a time and slightly bit down on the seed till i felt it crack and then rinsed and placed back in the paper towel. i had 20 seeds and i had a 100 % germination rate. i know this sounds really stupid and is most likely not recommmened at all but shit i tried it and it worked for me so you can give it a shot or just wait it out

Depending on how many seeds you have bought you could try opening a few and leaving the rest to try themselves, then wait it out and see which sprout. I tried cracking them once but non of the seeds would take even though I could see the plant inside. Even if one grows you can still clone so it's not all bad.

Yeah, cracking can work, but you need to be a bit careful when you do that.

You don't want to damage the insides of the seed either.

And while I agree that it's good to just get one clone out of the bunch, it still sucks. The patient bit, I totally get that LOL

You might want to give em a few more days than you think you should and then it might be time to give up on them.

Hopefully you can salvage something out of those seeds. It sucks that you had to bring seeds all the way back from Amsterdam, just to see no results.

Good luck man!

The two biggest reasons I see for seeds not germinating, are either allowing them to dry out during the process (kills them), or keeping them too wet (drowns them). The biggest reason for slow germination, is being too cold. You want those babies around 85F for best germination. Too hot will cook them.

Sorry to dredge up old thread on here but...

I thank you guys for the responses but not one of the seeds germinated...that pissed me right off. I just dont get it, i've done everything i've ever read and literally been through nearly 20 seeds and got nothing. I'm dumbfounded at how bad i am at this. My housemate is a grower of previous experience but has no clue what is happening.

Also, my closet is my grow room, and i've got a 250W HPS working from start to finish on a hopeful plant, is that advisable? I mean, everywhere says it is but every time i come home from uni or work, the heat is absurdly intense, even with a fan blowing all the air around at out the othe

I'm at a loose fucking end my friends, a very loose one. Nothing seems to work for me.

You have to have intake and exhaust to replace the warm air, not just a fan to move it. All lights put off heat but especially with an HID light.

Fucking souvenir shop, against my own better judgment. My friends wanted to leave as we were flying home that day so i quick grabbed the first one i saw. Big mistake probably!

I dont know if this will help or not, but when I do seed, I simply put them in a cup of room temp water cover the cup so no light gets in, and wait for them to sink.

Once they sink I put them in some light warrior soil and wait for them to grow.

I cover the cup with some plastic wrap and put them on a heating pad to keep them about 80 degrees.

Seems to work very well.
