self ballast metal halide lamps , anybody tried them

found these on ebay , PREMIUM QUALITY SELF BALLASTED METAL HALIDE LAMP 400W E40 5000K HYDROPONICS using ceramic e40 bulb holder

just wondering if anyone has tried them , really hate the ballast , takes up to much room and eats your electric ,and the heat is also a problem well the 600w bulb and ballast does , your thoughts please

Whether the ballast is external or internal doesn't matter. It still has a ballast and is still going to create the same amount of heat and use the same amount of electricity. And you want to make sure it's a digital ballast that is capable of running both Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium. Metal Halide is strictly for vegging, for flowering you switch the bulb for High Pressure Sodium.

If you have a 4x4 tent, go for 600.

tent size 2.4 x 1.2 . only one i can find to fit in the box room , scrap the metal halide bulb and buy a digital dim able ballast for the 600 watt hps bulb ?

Are we talking feet or meters or what? 1.2 feet isn't enough for anything.
