Senate reaches bipartisan agreement to axe banking regulations

Dodd-Frank is already a weak shadow of Glass-Steagal, and now it's being watered down with help from both sides of the aisle.

The defense budget- the largest in human history, yet somehow passed during a time of 'peace', also passed with bipartisan support.

And here you are, attempting to tell us that somehow the differences between the two parties actually amount to something.

I'm a Progressive because I don't want to give my support to any party that would support the above activities.

Throwing trivial bones at social causes doesn't change the fundamentals.

All your protestations don't add up to shit because they don't level the playing field.
So...still no specifics?

Just be honest and say you haven't read it and are only opposing it based on headlines.

Try claw back at least a little bit of integrity.

Can you not make a post without all the hyporbole?

Why did you feel the need to change the name of the article?

Senate reaches deal to cut number of systemically important banks

just not as exciting as

Senate reaches bipartisan agreement to axe banking regulations

The moderates we support? You're talking about 8 dems and 1 independent. I've never seen a word of support for any of them on the board. Can you point to any?

By the way, as you hopefully know, it hasn't gone through anything yet. As a banking and politics "expert" surely you can appreciate the senate is still buried in their dog shit tax bill. Has Mitch said when or if he's putting this thing up yet?

Where did you find a copy of the bill that you read? I can't find one. Does it make changes to the CFPB's structure of powers? How's my mortgage going to be impacted? Put up a link to the bill you read so everyone else can read it too.

The truth is people who know more than you have been arguing for quite a long time that credit unions and community banks have been unduly impacted by DF. Are they lying? Why do you think changing the sifi leverage ratio is so bad?

If you need some duct tape, you can use mine.
Bernbots are half-cocked in general.

He'll back away from any responsibility, even while defending the entire Democratic establishment to the holy, then claim blindness when shown his hypocrisy.

Just another clown. These people support the the very thieves who stole their prosperity.

I'm beginning to think Stockholm syndrome is a prerequisite to Democratic Party membership.

Right. Pay no attention to the DNC, or to the idea that party politics has been a thing for centuries.

Clown.
Practically all Progressives are Democrats. The few who aren't are independents and greens.

The DNC is an office. Progressive Democrats who supported (formerly independent) Bernie during the primaries used DNC infrastructure tprovided for candidates according to their charter. Bernie broke his agreement with the DNC by failing to conduct agreed upon joint fundraising events and in failing to do so didn't pay for the use of DNC office infrastructure including Democratic voter databases.

This is not surprising because his movement was based upon the idea of free stuff. LOL that you were disgusted with Colorado Democrats for publishing the cost of universal healthcare coverage and voters balked.

Most progressives are independent since the Democratic party is moderate

Not a single thing in Sanders platform was based on "free stuff". That's a right wing talking point.

Practically all progressives are registered as Democrats. Those that aren't registered as Democrats vote Democrat. Facts.

You very clearly haven't objectively read about the financial arrangements the DNC had with Sanders and Clinton in 2015-2016. Go back and read up. It's very clearly written in the recap of the recent scandals regarding how Clinton funded the DNC and as Brazile said, "saved the party", that Bernie had an agreement with the DNC to conduct joint fundraising with the DNC and didn't. It's also very clearly documented that Bernie knew he couldn't run as an independent because of the cost. One of the costs was assembling the voter rolls of likely liberal voters. Read up, dude. You talk a good game but you don't know much.

Bernie's platform consisted of fairy tales for how his policies would be paid for. His plan was to increase taxes on the wealthy and then free healthcare, free education, forgive student debt and the like. It was free stuff. It didn't turn me off to his policies but it was pretty much a free ride for everybody. Of course, if he had won it would have all come crashing down in the face of Republican Congress but I won't trouble you with reality or anything like that.

IT'S TIME TO MAKE COLLEGE TUITION FREE AND DEBT FREE

ISSUES
It’s Time to Make College Tuition Free and Debt Free

HERE ARE THE SIX STEPS THAT BERNIE WILL TAKE TO MAKE COLLEGE DEBT FREE:
  • MAKE TUITION FREE AT PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.
In fact, it’s what many of our colleges and universities used to do. The University of California system offered free tuition at its schools until the 1980s. In 1965, average tuition at a four-year public university was just $243 and many of the best colleges – including the City University of New York – did not charge any tuition at all. The Sanders plan would make tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout the country.
  • ALLOW STUDENTS TO USE NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID AND WORK STUDY PROGRAMS TO MAKE COLLEGE DEBT FREE. we can make public colleges and universities tuition free and debt free throughout the country.

no one has stood up to the banksters since hitler. everyone has an uninformed opinion about the third reich though.
Hitler didn't stand up to them, he curried favor with them to build his war machine. And his concentration camps.

Wildly and willfully misinformed about the facts of history, which makes you a typical Nazi.

So universities paying gigantic salaries to administrators, along with huge football stadiums on the backs of student debt that can't be shed via bankruptcy is a better alternative?

I think you've got your priorities badly misplaced.

What's wrong with investing in the educations of our citizens? We invest in roads, airports and internet services, why not citizens?

Maybe you don't think they deserve it?

WTF do you know about credibility, integrity or citation of facts? You never bother with any of them.

Go do your own damned homework; it's not my job to educate every ignorant Chump licker on this forum.

People deserve to be able to make their own choices. The present government "education" system doesn't allow that. That is one of the things wrong.

I think your priorities should not forcibly be made into other peoples priorities and they are badly misplaced. Why do you think other people don't deserve to set their own priorities?

How much longer do you have on student loans? what portion of your income is attributed to the payment..what's your interest rate?

do you think its really a 'helping hand' to borrow money from the government at exorbitant rates so new grads making 30-50k, has a Mercedes payment for 10-15 years?

it costs $30k to BREATHE in the US. This includes a roof over your head. Nothing more..no clothing, food, transportation, personal items like toothbrush, toothpaste..definitely no medical.

Some people do not use student loans wisely. Not finishing school. taking courses that didn't transfer or was unneeded. and why the fuck you coming out of school making only 30k a year Should have picked a better more lucrative career-field. If you not making at least double your age. you doing it wrong. 25 years old 50k, 30years - 60, 40 - 80k...that should be at the very least. of course you can make higher.

I voted for Sanders because I support the idea of free education with a stipend for deserving students. What I see from Bernie babies is that they bite the hand that gives. Bernie leeched off the DNC, didn't honor agreements and criticized it the entire time. It doesn't suprpise me because you guys all just want free stuff and carp, carp, carp about the party that's your only hope for you or yours to get it. I expect more carping if you ever get it, the carping won't stop because that's what you do.
