He resorts to this because he can't debate honestly- because he's on the wrong side of the argument. It's telling that he throws out weak arguments- then finishes the post with personal attacks, as if they're in any way supportive of his points. In fact, they're a red flag to anyone with critical thinking skills that he's not confident of his arguments and will settle for driving people away.

However, until the Progressive Movement can overcome his ilk, I'm hesitant to say he's on the wrong side of history. After all, the corporations and oligarchs are still winning the class wars in America and around the world.

Given the severity of some allegations going around right now, i think franken's pale in comparison. Both franken and conyers have so far delt with their situations appropriately.
