Sensi Vs. Non-Sensi potency

So far I have been unable to avoid pollination and thus, I have seeds in my buds. Damn hermies.

Then, about 5 minutes ago, I was thinking: I have never smoked sensimila, oh what a shame!

But is it? The stuff I have grown and smoke to this day is just great! So I guess my question is: am I really loosing potency if its a non-sensi plant?

From what I had read and understand is that the plant starts to slow down its trichomes and THC "making" since the plant is now pollinated and doesn't need to attract any more pollen. And energy is lost into making more seeds instead of triches and thus, THC.

Whereas a non-pollinated plant would start to produce more, and more triches to attract, what it believes to be, very little pollen in the air which it will ever get. So the plant puts in more energy into giving us what we what in the end, a more potent bud.

So what are your thoughts? Is sensi infact a more potent bud than a non-sensi?

seed production uses a lot of stored carbohydrates from the plant, this could be gonig into resin production and denser, heavier bud formation.

Cool Woomeister, so we can say you can loose yeild from non-sensi. Next question, is sensi really a better smoke and high than non-sensi?

A few seeds produced by the odd hermie flower in a crop that is otherwise sensi will barely affect potency ... a few male flowers will only pollinate a few female flowers - and every one of those calyx's and pair of pistils is a female flower - so in even just one bud, that's not near full blown pollination - Now if you have a full blown male unleash his manhood on your ladies, that would be another story, but otherwise you're basically smoking sensi anyway. Those few seeds aren't enough to tell the lady she's pregnant and can now stop spreading her legs... Metaphorically :) ... Ya follow :)

come to canada and try our weed. i believe you but find it absolutely crazy that people are still selling seeded bud. the thc goes way up bro. You will not find a seed in any bag from canada. enjoy it when you come. i will pray for you. lol

... Female plants do not stop producing THC / resin just because one tiny flower gets pollinated ... It requires a reasonably large amount of the plant to be pollinated before the plant decides it's created enough seeds and can now stop resin production, die and disperse the seeds - However, the more of the plant that is seeded, the less potent it will be, but it takes a reasonable amount of pollination to make an actual noticeable difference, one of two hermie seeds are hardly going to ruin your entire grow ... I mean the weed I grow is full sensi, no seeds ... But I've had seeded crops (from bagseed hermies being in the mix) and the smoke has never been noticeably less potent.

i'll agree it is more potent to an extent but your seeded weed could be good too. but it sucks when i go to the states and get some seeds and you miss 1. your smoking and every now and then POP when a seed burns. lol just keep growing your stuff. good luck.

you never get seeds in weed in the Uk (or at least I never have in 20 years) if it is skunk. People would not buy it.

How would people know if they're going to get seeds before they buy it? ... For the most part you won't get seeds. But if you have a few in your home grown, it won't really matter, it's not going to ruin your entire crop / grow.

Im talking about buying it after the 'seed batch', obviously. Its called return custom, something very important to a dealer.

i live in canada and you couldnt buy weed with a seed in it if your life depended on it. the united states has strick laws and therefore most comes from crap sources or mexico. lol. in canada you know before you buy it that there is no seeds. all wee have is White strains or else you wont even sell it. Also all prices stay the same. you cant buy any shwag or mids for cheaper. its 180 an ounce everywhere for all weed here. NO SEEDS EVER. NEVER SEEN A SEED OUTSIDE THE SEED STORES. good luck everyone

Oh I see... You guys must have a lot of places to buy over there or something. Over here, if you don't grow your own, you get what you're given and deal with it. Simple as that. You don't like it, you go without lol

i live in canada and you couldnt buy weed with a seed in it if your life depended on it. the united states has strick laws and therefore most comes from crap sources or mexico. lol. in canada you know before you buy it that there is no seeds. all wee have is White strains or else you wont even sell it. Man you guys don't know how lucky you are! ... We have schwag and mids and whites ... All goes for $300+ an ounce. The stuff I grow goes for $500 an ounce. $560 if I really want to push it. (Although High Times reckons it's worth 800 and something canadian dollars or some bullshit, that's like over a grand an ounce here, if I knew people who would pay that for it, I'd be one lucky f**ker!) I don't worry too much about buying these days tho. I usually get 10 ounces or more per harvest, which is every 3 or 4 months and that's plenty to last me!

The Uk supplies 80% of its own weed now and its all sensi. 15 years ago we had African bush everywhere and that was full of seed and dryed in the sun so not nice. There are comercial growing factories everywhere in the Uk 3000 were busted last year and thats just the tip of the iceburg.

where are you from? i would say canada has well.....ALOT of places to buy weed. every corner! lol Seeds are legal here and possesion of 1 ounce is to. you can grow 3 plants for personal use. You can buy seeds at the bong store. i take it for granted. lol If you guys ever come to canada dont be scared to ask! we are friendly. lololololol

Oh, that would be why it's easy to get then! ... It's all 'evil' stuff here. Possession of seeds (even sealed in a package), seedlings, plants, plant material (i.e - a leaf) - All punishable in a court of law :( ... Sad really, especially when we have one of the worst problems with alcohol abuse in the world (per capita) - Government keeps the public ignorant, so change is not coming soon :( ... A canadian cop (chief of police or something like that) came over and spoke to our legalize cannabis groups and couldn't believe how lax we are (as a nation) about alcohol abuse and yet cannabis use is so hugely frowned upon.

Great input here guys. Thanks for all the replies.

So I guess have two schools of thought here:

1- Sensi and non-sensi are roughly equally potent.

2- Sensi is MUCH more potent than non-sensi

I have to admit, I dont get THAT many seeds. If I were to guestimate, I would say minimum 30 maximum 60 seeds per plant.

Which leads us to another question: When is a plant technically fully "pregnant"? How would one know? What are the effects in terms of final yield and potency?
