Separation of church and state doesn't matter if you're Muslim.

I don't see why it's important to single out Muslims. There are also Sikhs, a Jewish rabbi and Mormons who are allowed to wear religious garb. Why should Muslims not be allowed the rights and priviledges afforded everyone else? The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 covers all American citizens.

No one should be allowed to in the military, I'm pointing out the Muslims because it a bigger deal with what else is going on around the world.

Like I said before, it's like they're using our system against us. Divide and conquer.

I guess this will make it easier for them to know who each other are, you know, cause that's important when taking orders.:-?

I understand what you're saying, but we wouldn't be America if we didn't allow every American to utilize their freedoms afforded to the by the Constitution and B.O.R.

Not sure what to say about this, other than a JR ROTC with a turban is just asking to be thrown in a garbage can.

This isn't the rest of the world. This is the United States and all citizens have a right to religious freedom. This is guaranteed in the constitution. The military agrees.

Religious freedom in the military can be a dangerous thing, is what I think God is trying to say. There's a time and a place for everything.

Yes, you're right, they do. On their own time. When in uniform no one should be allowed to set themselves apart from the rest.

I think our military should reflect our nation. One of the best characteristics of the U.S. is our diversity. Also when a Soldier, Marine, Airmen, Seamen, or Coastie are in uniform being a different race sets you apart from the rest.

what if christians suddenly started wearing hats with a 3ft tall cross on top? would the ROTC people be forced to allow it? where does this stop? can i claim im Pastafarian and have a fat plate of spaghetti on my hat? if you cant wear the military uniform, you will be kicked out. just like anyone else who refuses to wear a part of the uniform and instead would like to wear something else. oh but its religion so they get a pass...

and what if your religion likes you to wear a jacket? and it must be worn over any other piece of clothing you have on. would they allow them to wear the religious jacket over their uniform? doubt it! why is a hat any different?

What is the big deal? They are making it possible for students to apply for approval of uniform modifications that the Army has allowed under an act passed almost a decade ago. If someone who wants to be a soldier (I'm assuming that's why kids join JROTC) is going to get comfort out of wearing a religious article then they should at least have the right to ask their superiors for permission to wear it. If the request is unreasonable then their superiors can deny the request. Don't color me a fan of religion but I don't see this as a problem.

I don't remember this much fuss when the Army passed the act allowing these kinds of uniform modifications.
