Setting up 1000watts hps grow room

1.so, i'm thinking of setting up a 4X8 space, how many lights do you think i need?

2.someone suggested 3 1000watts, what do you guys think?

3.should i get a digital ballast?

4.600w is most efficient, but it seems like it would cost more to buy enough 600w ballasts/ bulbs to make it equivalent to 1000watts

5.IF i buy new, how much should i expect to pay? I was thinking of going with HTG supply...

absolutely too much. I'd go with two 600 watters and your looking at 450-600 for two from htg supply. Air cooled would be best.

Air cooled? does that mean magnetic ballast?

the digital ballast comes with a fan,

or is the digital air cooled?

two 600 watters would need a fan from what i understand
so what do you mean by air cooled?

so that means 3, 1000 watters are too much for a 4x8 space. correct?
Even using really powerful extraction, cooltubes and air con, etc that would toast anything that you tried to grow.

One 600w HPS with good extraction will get you (if done properly) between 0.5 and 1 g per watt if you manage the grow reasonably well. Rouhly between 11 and 22 ounces of dry quality bud. A very respectable yield for that space and for a first grow.

2.someone suggested 3 1000watts, what do you guys think?
I think you should make a point of not taking advice from this person. If you want to build a very large oven, that should do the trick nicely.

3.should i get a digital ballast?
If you can afford to, yes.
- They use less electricity than Magnetic Ballasts
- They increase the output of the bulb compared to MBs
- They give that maximum output throughout the lifetime of the bulb, with MBs older bulbs give off fewer lumens
- They are smaller lighter and much easier to handle than MBs
-They switch on faster

and if you wear a tinfoil hat and know it's all a conspiracy...
- They don't have a recognisable startup profile, that can be picked up by smart electricity metres.

In case you haven't guessed I really like digital ballasts.
