Several ebb and grow related questions from a first time grower

1. Is this good lighting to start out seedlings out on? (1000w HPS is their later home.)

2. Can you suggest a better non-DIY option?

3. I'll be using an ebb and grow system for growing. How do I get the roots long enough so that when I move from 1 inch rockwool squares to my hydroton I don't have to put the rockwool deep enough that it gets wet during flooding? Is there a certain tray I should be putting them in to achieve this?

4. Should I be using 4 inch rockwool squares instead of 1 inch for my ebb and grow?

5. How long should I wait before moving seedlings to the 1000w HPS?

Look for lumens. Thats the output the light has. A normal cfl light bulb has i beleive 16,000... I got all of my seedlings o 5 regular 16,000 bulbs and theyre doing great i got a grow journal check it out under my profile and shit. But i got a simple DIY project i setup and it does the job pretty damn good. It cost me nothing but effort and will get me LB's unless something goes HORRIBLY wrong. But youre 2 steps ahead of me when it comes to indoors. Your lighting i truly envy. Good luck .

I'd think about getting some sort of grow tent or seedling starter like you suggested, the cfl bulbs thatre like 70 dollars are pretty god stealth lights. But my opinion is i'd go with a 3-4 ft grow tent or a old room in a house get mylar/ grow tet has reflective material, make sure its a 400 watt setup and up. Go big or go home baby! just dont go to jail iadmit it jail makes me sick. But grow tent a quality soil and youre good.

But what do I know. Im a Stranger according to this shit.

I've ordered a 5x5 Gorilla Grow Tent, and I'll be ordering the Sentinel Ebb & Flow to go in it. The biggest DIY I should have to do is cutting out some particle board to fit the window for an exhaust for the 1000w.
