shallow coir monotub

So i have been researching and debating growing some cubes this summer

i am planning on either doing popcorn or WBS spawn into a coir monotub, probably damions tek i think

I know that my sub needs to be about 3-4 inches

Most people use full size rubbermaid tubs for montubs but i was wondering if anyone has tried using a shallower tub

Id like to use the style tub that fits under a bed or maybe a little taller.

Anybody have any credible information on the size of tub required?

I am currently using a similar recipe/philosophy of the tek. You can scale it down to whatever your needs may be. Just go to shroomery again and just check out similar teks to see how you should augment damions. His was the first that I checked when I was deciding upon my next step. I am currently using smaller "tupperware" type trays, and then fruiting them in a larger tote type box. Instead of putting all my eggs in one basket. Good luck.

In my experience it seems like cubes like like 2-5" range. Much thinner and you will still flush but it will be mostly smaller fruits. Thicker, and you are just wasting substrate.

I ripped the tag off, but I think my tote is an 18 gallon. It's the middle size one of the 3 sterlite tubs that they carry at walmart. I just measured it and the lid is about 2 feet long by about 1 1/2 fee wide. It seems to be the perfect size for one brick of coir. With a quart of verm and 5 quarts spawn it gives you about 3" of substrate. I've been running damion's tek for about 6 months now.

That's the only link I could find. It's for a set of 8, but you get the idea.

Depth depends upon the substrate. grain substrates can be thinner but I have seen 10 inches of straw give huge flushes with no aborts over and over again before they are exausted.
