Shitty filter??

So i got a closet grow kickn.. 2x4x7.. 250hps.. 6" inline and tall boy filter combo from htgsuppy.. I have my inline hooked up to a speed controller due to noise issues, i have turned up half way.. No bends in the ducting, a strait shot.. The filter and fans only 4 months old. I have had it on the entire 4 months.. Is my filter shot already?? Its been stinkin for a few weeks now.. The room nor closet smells but where it exhausts to completely reeeeeks! My temps are 66-68 at night and goes no higher then 73.. I had a can fan 38 special filter before this one and it worked great for dam near a year.. I think the filter i got now just sucks.. Could be anything else??

you could try and turn down the speed on the fan some so that the stinky air has more time to go through the filter as i've heard if it goes through the filter too fast it won't have proper time to filter out the smell..
i would think that four months isn't that long for a filter to last.. i've had mine much longer than that and it still works well, it's a phresh filter.. maybe the cheaper ones don't last as long though.. you can always buy more activated carbon at petsmart and maybe put it in the filter and take out the old shit and see if that helps as well..

Yea dude that does make sense to slow it down.. My last run with the can fan filter, i was using a 4" fan so mayb it is movin a lil too fast.. Never thought of that.. Ill turn her down n see what happens in the couple of days.. Thanks bud
