Isn't neuropathic pain, neuropathic pain? They only cover it as a consequence of certain medical conditions. I have neuropathic pain, I've not had chemo....it's a start though.

Nope, there are different types of neuropathy. You are right about it being a start though

How so? I agree different diseases cause neuropathic pain, that's the neuropathy... it doesn't take away from the fact that it is still neuropathic pain caused by something. I don't doubt the neuropathic pain in my feet and legs is just as painful as a diabetics...

that's good.
the first thing i thought reading the title was the 20-something year olds who are carded because of "back pain" ;-)
..glad they're covering serious medical stuff, not just the ones who are medical just to be safe (like my buddy.. when i asked why he needed/got a 50 plant license.. he just laughs and replies "meh, i dunno.. my doctor rocks" *he doesn't even smoke it, all profit)

i'm tossed up on the whole coverage thing.. i don't want ones who are basically playing the system with lame medical reasons, to play it even further. but i'm all for ones who seriously need help, to get it..

tough to decide what's what there though. *why should've done a better 'legal' system, and only card the very ill (set standards for it) have a true medical system,. the rest can grow legally. (and not just 4 plants)

And i dont doubt that its not as painful either as I have had it for 10+yrs as a result of MS. But science is science and we cant change the fact that theres different types, much like cancer.

Also keep in mind that beyond that, pain is subjective and no two people experience it exactly the same. Not trying to diminish what anyone is going through, thats just how the body works.

Well it is really hard to compare my pain to anyone else. Perhaps MS is singled out because we not only have neuropathic pain but our nerve fibers/cells (or the protective coating to be exact, myelin) are being attacked by our immune system. This damage results in scar tissue, as in lesions, on the brain and on the spinal cord. Hopefully in time more things will be covered. My wife had neuropathic pain for years from her sciatica nerve, and there is nothing they can really do for that except treat the pain and wait it out.

If the people making the decisions about this had some experience with the conditions and afflictions, either first hand or through a close friend/family member, then maybe they would be more understanding. Perhaps in cases where the meds a person currently uses are far more expensive than cannabis as an alternative, a case could be made to allow special coverage. Any foot in the door will help in making this possible, so why not use logic and common sense to present an alternative option. If you never ask you will never get help.
