Should I change Pots?

Hello, this is my first time growing and I have 4 plants that are growing extremely well and I was wondering if I should get bigger pots for them. They are in 1ft wide pots right now, but I can see the first sign of roots coming out the bottom of the pots. Should I get bigger pots and move them? I am growing inside and I am kind of short of cash at the moment, but If leaving them in those pots will damage them, or hurt my plants by root binding them then I would rather go buy larger pots.

i would repot
pots are cheap, free if you find stuff around your house to use
my favorites rite now i think are the rubbermaid plastic garbage cans
3 gallon .. about 8 x 11 X 12 , 2.60 a piece @walmart!

Do You think they will have problems during flowering? I live in an apartment in a city, Limited space. and extremely lacking in the extra buckets department =/

the rule of thumb is 1 gallon for every 12 inches
so i would think that any less than that would hurt your yeild

Just keep this in mind "the bigger the pots the more pot"
but keeping ur plants in small pots wont necesarily hurt ur plants they just wont grow up to be any thing worth putting time into. peace and good luck

Thanks for the quick advice =) Again, this is my first time growing so I'm going to add a bit of soil to the current containers to give them as much space in them as I can and hope for the best. I'm not looking for a huge yield, I just want my girls to grow up successfully . I will be sure to get larger containers for my next grow though.

come on dude, you got 4 plants ... 4$ a pot , 12$ total ... thats like the cost of a gram of decent bud... and youll be getting back way more than a gram from this investment, i dont see any reason not to repot:bigjoint:

Hey So Lucky lucky me, I've stumbled upon 2 very large pots. Haha they are huge, but I only have 2. Do you think I should wait till they show signs of sex before I transplant them? Oh and question, If I do transplant them from their pots and they have roots growing out the bottoms would it be smart to cut the roots that are sticking out with a pair of snips to avoid tearing the roots and causing more damage?

And for that matter would it be better to wait till they grow to a bit bigger before I transplant them? They are about 6-7 inches tall now but the roots are already searching the holes at the bottom. so Should I transplant sooner than later?

sooner.root growth slows when you go 12/12 and you should not transplant in flowering mode.vegg mode is when the plant builds most of its roots and when you switch to 12/12 root growth slows and transfers growth to the rest of the plant.just slice the pots open with a stanley to avoid major root damage when transplanting.

If I need to go into a slightly larger pot for flowering, I try and do it two weeks before going 12/12.

Well I transplanted them this morning and I hope they'll be doing alright. The Pots are quite a bit larger and I hope this doesn't cause too much damage. The plants look happy and healthy so far. Wish them luck!

good luck and dont stress it will all be good;-).
i remember my first transplants i was acting like a surgeon and sweating like a rapist and my stress levels hit the roof but it works all good(done quickly and carefully) the worst that can happen is the plant gets a bit stressed and growth slows for a week or two untill it adjusts and then it starts booming again.
FORGET ABOUT IT FOR NOW;-).
