Should I cut my plant in half?

I have a super sour diesel clone growing its 10 and a half weeks old I topped it about 3 weeks ago or so and nothing is happening at all. My buddy who has a lot of experience in botany and growing bud told me to cut it about half way down and that it will grow more tops and make the other branches produce more bud. How true is this? I’m pretty experienced in growing aswell but I’ve never seen anyone cut their plant in half. I know all about LST and super cropping and all that shit. Thanks for the help

I don't know about cutting a plant in half as I haven't ever tried that approach. Some growers cut the crap out of their plants back and call it defoliation. Does it work? I think so to a certain extent - cut too far and you will cut back good growth that will cost the plant time to recover.

I'd suggest you top the shit out of the plant at the possible places it can be "topped" (not just the top of the plant.
Have fun and good luck - It's a long way to the finish line!

It sounds like your friend is describing topping... I wouldn't cut my plant in half unless it was way too stretchy. Just let her be or flip the lights. 10 weeks is a long veg period. How big is the pot? What soil are you in? What lights?

He’s not describing topping he literally wanted me to cut it. I’m running organic fox farms soil and running 6 t5s up top and 3 cfls on each side and 2 led bulbs. I posted another forum and someone told me that it is a real thing to do and that it does help with yield but makes the process of vegging very long.

I see what your friend is saying...

he wants you to cut it in half to allow the rest of the smaller shoots to catch up with he main stalk, thus creating a very nice and full canopy

this is the precursor to bonsai, just in a more rudamentary form

i take it you didn't research it? It stands for F*** I Missed where a grower doesn't take enough of the top off. pop the term into the search bar and see if maybe that is what you did

You can do some pretty crazy shit with that plant the way it looks; it's structure.
So many options. It's a nice plant.
