Should i go Threw ccm are be taught by a Caregiver?

Hey everyone I want to learn how to become a caregiver I have grown for many years and want to be legal anyone have any tips or ideas on how to make it in this new community here in maine? I know I need to learn more but I'm more than willing to learn. Thankyou for your time.

What do you want to learn... the laws? or how to get into ccm or other groups?

Laws mostly.... I've talked to ccm many times havnt gone to a meeting yet just don't know what to expect really haha. And what should I prepair for? Fillout forms I know ccm does interviews.... what else should I know besides growing. Maybe I'm puting too much thought into it haha.

Well the laws are the most important to learn.. Not only learn but know front to back. I don't really Have any information on joining an organization like ccm or mmcm. Suggest printing out the laws and forms to study

While the law(s) are relatively new, they aren't really that complicated. You don't really have to have a patient before filling out an application and sending in the money to the state. You could do so anytime but the one year expiration starts immediately. Or you could wait and find a patient first. In any case, you cannot legally start growing until both of those things happen. The patient may or may not choose to register with the state, but you and that person sign an agreement and each keep a copy. The state doesn't get a copy.

If you have specific questions feel free to ask them here. We have had many discussions about the new law and its ramifications.

I'd print the laws and rules....spend a week going over them, again and again.....tet's right this is a good place to get some answers after that.....

Have they adopted rules after the 2011 law now?

No they haven't. They haven't had a public hearing yet, either, and we're not sure when that's going to happen. LePage is wanting to secure this budget before DHHS can do anything.

And remember, there's the law and there's also ethics that have to be a part of the discussion. You'll be working with patients who are very ill and some who aren't. It's a relationship that will be built. You'll likely become good friends with these folks who ask you to take care of their medicine for them, and there needs to be a high respect for them. Too often I hear of stories of caregivers that stop calling their patients, show up just on the first visit to get their card and never call the patient back, stuff like that. It pains me hearing those stories. So, be one of the good ones

good point orgaincness, the law is fairly easy to understand (with some murky areas for sure) but the morals is what is up in the air right now. and the more these people with bad intentions, poor skills, or both that infest our market the harder it will be for honest caregivers to have a respectable name.

Great and often overlooked point about the moral aspect. I only have 2 patients right now, won't take on any more until my expansion is complete.

One of my patients is very wealthy, the other is dead broke and disabled. The wealthy patient pays for his meds, less $ and better quality than the dispensaries. My disabled patient I very rarely accept any $ from at all. He can't afford it, it comes down to meds or food for him. Couldn't look my own family in the eyes after taking the $ he needs so much mire than us

That is absolutely stand up! I salute & applaud you As someone living on SSI and disabled I think it is great that people still do "pay it forward" I'm a firm believer in the good that you do for others, always comes back ten fold. You Rock!

I think (hope) it's pretty common among caregivers. It's the same for me...two patients, one pays and one doesn't. Prices for the paying customer are quite reasonable and I often include brownies and hash as freebies. Huge chunk at Christmas time

I also have 2 patients at this time. One gets free meds and the other gets it cheap enough for them to be able to take care of themselves for the month. I gave both my patients a chunk of the black gold (gumby) for Christmas. They really appreciate that kinda stuff.
I got one of my patients because he had a really bad experience with his last caregiver. I will always try to meet with them whenever they need. And provide them with top quality meds for less then most would charge. And I charge the same no matter what strain it happens to be. I figure it only cost me so much to grow it no matter what I'm growing at the time. So I should reflect that in the price of my meds.

Yup like I said I bet most of us have similar stories to tell.

I wanted aspiring or new caregivers to really understand what this should be about. Taking care of people. Of course there is nothing wrong with making $, if done right this is work and we should be compensated. I didnt become a licensed caregiver to get rich, honestly I'd do better financially if I was still "underground" like I was in my younger days.

Thankyou everyone you all are helpin me out a lot! Its good to know that people are there to help. Means a lot I. Have been working with this girl that suffers from epilepsy? I know I deff mispelled that but I'm waiting on her to get evaluated and I need to get real strains. I guess ill have to order seeds till I'm legal haha. Strawberry diesel,hashplant,skunk1. And carthridge red that I use for myself for joint pain.

I would be interested to know your thoughts on the Strawberry Diesel. I just harvested my 2nd batch (first from seed, 2nd were clones). Mine are great yield, decent effect. Not a lot of aroma, but very colorful at lower temps.
