Should I harvest?

Hi guys I'd really appreciate some help here. This is a South African Landrace Sativa 12 weeks and 2 days into flowering. Most of the trichomes are cloudy. A few amber trichomes evident on some spots of the plant as well.

Firstly I need some clarity on the matter as some guy on one of our local forums has suggested that I allow the trichomes to amber all over the plant. Isn't that a bad idea??

As you can see there is some purpling of the buds as well as some yellowing. Does this plant look ok to harvest or what should I do? Your help will be much appreciated.

Harvesting with lots of amber supposedly gives you more of a couchlock hit while cutting the plant down with mostly clear tricombs gives more of a head high.

I think buds that are mostly cloudly with a little bit of amber and clear tricombs is the best point to harvest for me.

Do you think I should harvest? Before these buds get more yellow?

IT depends on what kind of high you're looking for... harvest early for a power punching clear high that lacks staying power, or harvest later for a more euphoric couch lock high.

It's mostly strain dependent and personal preferences really...

You could harvest a bud now test it out see if you like.... if not, then let it go a bit more. Many people let it go 50/50 white to amber.

Will it not stress the plant to harvest a bud now? How long should I let the bud dry before I test it if I do trim off a bud?

Nah, it won't stress it to pinch a single bud(to fill a bowl or two) off a side branch.

Set it in front of a small fan for a couple days... a couple days is worth the wait and won't make a difference over the long haul, especially if you have weeks to go or even just another 5 days.

This is your most crucial time, this is when the plants really pack on their final weight. So you want to be VERY sure that it's done producing.

I personally like to wait till there is at least 25-30% amber trichs. I have yet to try a strain I like 'all milky' and I can't believe people chop at that point, i've tried it and 'clear high' isn't the right way to describe it, IMO. It's more like it's chopped early and not as potent!

i wouldn't chop it yet, it's still got a few, two weeks or so left on it imo..
but yeah, where did all of your leaves go m8? kind of odd looking at a plant with zero leaves on it. :(
All the fan leaves had gone completely yellow so I thought it would be best to just remove them. Guess I was very wrong! This is my first grow.

Guess I underfed this plant during flowering?
