I am thinking of buying a 4 bulb T5 light for my small grow box. I was curious whats best to use for autos. I was wanting to know should I get a 4 bulb set of mixed bulbs. I mean 2 6500k and 2 3000k or just get all 3000k for autos? any help would be great.

I would personally get a mix 2/2. you do want some kind of blue spectrum light for the small veg period. when it starts flowering you can add some cfl's to give it more red spectrum light if needed or just switch out the 2. just throwing in my 2 cents...

I have used t5's before and they work great. However, i have noticed smaller yields and less denser buds. I recomend LST to make up for some of the yield loss. Other than that i dont really see a difference in quality. They smoke just as good with just as much potency. On another note, Since i live in hawaii, its a great way to save on electric. We have ridiculous rates here.

Im currently experimenting with some t8 litro bulbs. my local hydro shop recomended these. I was really skeptical at first, but after seeing some of the stuff they have grown using them ive definitely been excited to try them. check out my grow if your interested.

If you want to see what a can this question opens up, check out the pr0fessur's thread "LED without LED"...otherwise, you might consider a 3:1 mix per stage:: 3 6500K :1 3000K in veg and the opposite in bloom.
be easy

yea it will be a big can. so many opinions on what works the best. a 3 to 1 ratio will definitely work great as well.

2700k is the best possible colorr for buds. But i like a little 6500k in there. I do a 2:1 ratio. And hawaiian dude, they wont be fluff if you keep em short, even, and 3" away from the lights with a fan. You familiar with the inverse square law?

I have grew both Photo & Autos under T5's & have found that by swapping out the center half of my 65k bulbs with 24k bulbs when they show sex gives me the best quality buds under a 48/8 T5
I ruined a trio of beautifull plants by doing a full change over from 65k to 24k's..Buds were thin whispy but tight,Weights were almost 1/3 of previous grows under 65k throughout but the real let down was lack of the frost factor & sweet smells.

Yea red just makes em a tiny bit bigger. The only ppl who say blue gives fluffy, poor quality, have never used em and are just repeating bs they heard somewhere
