I'm about to start flowering for the first time on my first grow I have 2 females standing at about 2 feet tall I was wondering if I should take off some of the smaller offshoots at the base of my plant before going into flowering ?

u should cut off any shute that is small or doesn't see any light , give it a week to recuperate and then start flowering

If it is the first time growing the variety and you do not know the characteristics of how it will develop then I wouldn't trim it other than the very very lowest foliage that is going to be in the shadows. After seeing and knowing how it grows you can then prune and shape your next round to try to get to optimal. I've had many genetics that shot up quickly and the lower shaded budding sites then became un-shaded and developed very nice buds. I hope this helps.
