Anyone try this? Home depot has them for $3.40 for a .5 cu ft bag that expands to 1 cu ft. There was a purple all purpose bag that was 1.5 cu ft which expends to 2.5 for $7.60 but decided just to run just these two.

I've been using the green bag stuff for a while now with good results.
I use it straight out of the bag for seeds and cuttings, but there's not enough nutes in it to last more than a couple weeks once the plants are well rooted and start their Veg stage of growth. At that point you can either use liquid ferts or up-pot using amended Promix.

Is it safe to say this stuff is ok for 2-day old seedlings? Just don't wanna burn the babes.

I plant seeds in it right out of the bag and have never had a single plant burn.
The ferts in it aren't time release, so leaf burn farther into growth is not an issue either.
You won't need to add any ferts for up to maybe 4 weeks, depending strain, lighting, etc.

Thanks Rj, I appreciate the info. Pro-Mix Veg & Herb w/ a couple handfuls of EWC. Dinafem Cheese, Super Silver, and DP Hollands Hope. In 5 inch jiffys. Outdoor of course. 4 weeks huh? I have a batch of Vics SS ready to go. How long would you wait before planting in Vic's Super Soil?

I stopped using altogether. I felt it was a heavy mix and didn't drain well. I had originally planed on adding perlite, but didn't have it the day I needed it. I grow indoors so maybe that the difference.
