Side lighting for canopy.

well as my 2 plants grow for the light, it's a shitty 230 drawing watts row of CFL light as I'm waiting to upgrade based on if I like growing, and do some more compairisins with LED I'm sticking with my CFL grow.

So brings me to the point of side lighting as they are larger.
Is it really important the lower leaves get light, or because the top leaves get light some lower ones with some shade now, I'm sure as the grow even larger in the 2 gallon pots, they will have more shade issues, so put a few CFLS. on the sides to help with the lower ends?

Now I'm growing in a 2X4 grow tent, how do you put your side lights up if you do, which I'm sure many of you do if this is required, if it's a myth kinda thing, we're just wasting electricity, adding unwanted heat and supplying a shitty light spectrum for the plants.
If you use clamps are they strudy?

Pictures and all sorts will be great addition help. Online references to find more info for setting up a small-medium tent.

If I actually had the space in my tiny little appartment I'd have a 4x4...as I move out that will be the next thing, I'll have 2 tents for alternating light cycles and it will be dope ;)
