siding instead of topping

ok so people top a plant to make a larger surface area from above to get more light from the globe above.

im growing vert, and im getting crowded in space

can i side a plant, aka slice all of one side off, so that the side of the plant has a large flat surface facing the light to the side of it?

my problem is my lack of space and the plants all growing horizontal and touching the light in the cooltube.

does this even make sense?

yup. i don't know if heath robinson's vert grows say anything about that other that tying them back from the ceiling.

tying was plan B, but its tricky in the area i have, and makes harvest a bitch when the plant is tied to the cabinet.
guess i can try and see what happens

Just train the plant to be flat on the one side. No need to hack off the branches. I train mine to be flat on 2 sides and just over a cola thick.

People top a plant to increase the number of main stems, what your talking about would simply be trimming. Though it can still increase foliage count.
