I have been using this for a while, not sure if i thought if it or found it somewhere but here it goes.
I have 1 plastic storage box 2x3 and about 1 high. I have lined the bottom with black stones. It holds the pot just off the water (chose the level with the amount of water u want in there). If you over water you will have to use a baster or something to get the excess out.
Good things; one is that it evaporates the water with the hotter stones there for raising the humidity. Keeps the roots warm at night to help them grow better*. More power efficient, don't need a pump or humidifier. Saves more space. Cheaper. Uses water run off.
*maybe water at night if it needs to be cooler for roots to grow... or what ever you can change it to suit what needs to be done
Down sides; More cleaning, collects fertilizers (might be reused?), might raise heat levels a bit.
