simple single/two plant setup suggestions

Hey everyone,

new to the forum here but long time toker

anyways, i want to grow a single or maybe two plants in my apartment. I live in a good area and neighbors are not a problem.

I have to grow this indoors in my bedroom and wanted some suggestions.

First, I was thinking of getting this system,

Anyone have comments on that system?

Can anyone recommend a simple light setup, i am thinking of hanging a bulb from he ceiling...need something simple. one light that can possibly be used through out the whole life of the plant?

any recommendations on ventilation setup, simple to keep the air flowing

will the smell be so bad i should not grow it in my bedroom? i will be implementing some type of carbon filter to hopefully keep te smell down but i have no experience on the smell, is it that bad?

will be trying northern lights.

I have grown in my closet and there is no sharing allowed. If you grow good strains right, it will smell. Doesnt seem like a big deal, but it can get frustrating. You meet a chick who isnt 420 ok, or your mom comes over to visit, etc.

They have built in filters to clean smell, and it is all put together. I have built my own systems and they work, but these are no brainer and the cool cab looks like a piece of furnature.

If you get the hydro you listed, I would recommend a 250 watt HPS. There is a lot of talk about lighting here and I understand some of the bashing going on about HPS. But for years, HPS has alwaysgiven consitent results. If you grow it right, the elctricity cost is nominal compared to the smoke you get.....and the peace of mind knowing how it was grown and it doesnt have something funky on it cuz the guy read online spraying malathyon on your plants is a good way to get rid of mites.

Another possiblity is the phototron. All inclusive enclosed system. And can be moved quickly if needed. I used one of these in an apt years ago. You can get 1-3 ounces every few months out of it.

Look on ebay for these. they sell a bit cheaper. a used one even cheaper-er.

that looks like a decent setup, but you may find dwc a lil fussy for a first time grow.. don't get me wrong, dwc is badass, and i have seen some killer grows come from one, but they tend to be a lil fussy and being a newby you may run into quiet a few problems that you maynot be equiped to deal with yet... i would say get a bad of some decent soil, maybe some fox farms ocean forest and a few containers for your first couple of grows till you get a good feel for your plants wants and needs, and once you get that down pretty good, get yourself that setup in the link... this is just my opinion though, and plenty of newbies start out in hydro or dwc and have no problems whatsoever...
as for a lamp, for one or two plants, i would say a 250 watt hps should do you fine.. i like htgsupply for their lamps, and i am sure you could find one there pretty cheap... you can use an hps lamp for the whole thing, from seed to harvest and get nice results..
smell can be an issue for sure.. but all strains are different.. now i have heard that nl is a low odor strain, and i have heard that it can be quiet stinky, so i am not sure which is the case.. a good carbon filter will go a long way to removing odors... or you could always check out rosemans diy odor control bucket for some added odor control...
these are just a few suggestions of course, but i wish you the best whichever way you decide to go..
