looking great man...check out mine, I just wrapped it up...

I never thought CFLs would produce decent results but I am very pleasantly surprised!

I too am growing some NL from KC Brains under some CFL's. Pic one is 11 days of flower, was LST'd without topping. Pic two is day 2 of flower and was Fimmed.

I grew out a male long enough to get some pollen, and seeded the first plant pretty thoroughly. I have noticed that there is still no resin production on that plant, is that normal due to the plant focusing its energy on making seeds?

On Q-3 what is that - LST?
Thanks again for all the positive comments :-)

Re low stress training, its used to control the plants overall shape, the idea is to encourage all of the flowering tops to reach the same height to form an even canopy so that all of the buds get an equal amount of light as opposed to a single main cola. Its ideal for small cabinets and even better for CFL grows as you can keep most of the buds within 2 -3 " of the bulbs. My plant was topped once and LST'd and shes just 12" tall but bushy as you can see. Its a method well worth trying :-)
I am using a hempy set up. since it's not dirt will it support this method (less support at base when bending). Also have you ever done both dirt and hempy to see what would work better?

Its day 22 12/12, latest pics of her. I estimate harvest time at around 9 weeks (63 days).

Thanks again for the support and comments all :-)

Donkeyote :-) Nice plants there, plenty of time for resin production yet.

jjmd, so long as you always start LST with an 'anchor tie' for the stem (ie pulling back in opposite direction to the way you are pulling downwards, if that makes sense), then you will be fine. PLenty of Hempy grows LST'd :-)
I've never grown Hempy but I did read a lot about it and thought about it. There were some issues with some growers mainly due I think to problems with the res. My only concern with Hempy is that IF there was a problem you could not access the res? I know you could flush it but that was my concern if something went wrong half way through a grow. Most Hempy grows do go well though and report excellent growth rates so good luck :-)

looking good, nice and bushy, i vegged mine too long and am having a hard time with the stretch, its amazing what you can do with a roll of twine though.
She looks beautiful man, how tall is she now?
Thanks SICC :-) Shes about 12"/30cm tall atm. Stretch has slowed now so she should keep a fairly level canopy.

jjmd: Hope I did'nt sound too negative about the Hempy method? I recall some of Hempys original threads and no doubt when done right it has explosive results! I think most of the problems you read about with that method relate to not following the watering regime resulting in the 2" res not being regularly flushed. Those roots are in water all the time so its important to water for plenty of run off to make sure that res is well flushed/changed.

When I decided to use the moss layer in my pots I actually had hempy in mind...I reasoned that if they can do well with a constant 2" res then they should do as well with a layer of sphagnum moss which also is constantly 'wet' but well aerated. To date this has proved to be the case, my pots NEVER dry out around the roots and they love it :-)

Are you running a thread? I like following hempy grows!

I have been trying to figure out how to start a thread. As soon as I do I will let you know. Thanks for the info and piont of view, I have not read any neg issues about using a hempy. I would like to read those if you can remember what threads they were.

Hi jjmd :-)

I first read of hempys method in the early nineties (he started in the mid eighties!!). I've read many threads on many forums and overwhelmingly its a tried a trusted method, no doubts about that. What does occassionaly crop up is that the res becomes stagnant and begins to stink BUT clearly this is not a fault of the method but rather a case of underwatering (you can't overwater with true hempy !!) where the 2" res is not being flushed.

I tell you what, I have 2 NL clones just rooting, when I start them I'll do one in soil and the other in the original Hempy bucket for comparison and see how they go.

I have Hempys own thread on the method from the MrNice forum here, I could send you the link? Always nice to hear it from the inventor himself, even if spelling is not his strong point :-)

Thanks again all for the comments :-)

UPDATE: DAY 25 OF 12/12.

So, at day 25 of 12/12 I add my LST extension frame and more ties go in to hold the canopy level. My cabinet is only 12" deep and 32" wide so I have train to that shape and size :-)

Pics taken straight after the ties were put in so the buds have not yet re orientated themselves vertically in the pics. They're already pulling back up now so I'll update the pictures next day or so.

Had a good flush of plain PH'd water today for good run off. I have a touch of burn on some fan edges but I'm not too worried by that. Pistil development is taking off now.
