Simpson oil question

Hello! I've been a caregiver and a member here for a few months. I tend to read more so then post, but I had a question for any patients or caregivers out there. I was wondering if anyone has used or made Simpson Oil aka THC oil? I've looked into it and can't seem to find anything bad about it, other then the massive amount of medical marijuana it takes to make a decent supply of it. I'd like to make some for a patient of mine, but before I take a half pound (yikes!) to make a month or twos supply I'd like to get some feedback from anyone who has had any experience with it.

Thanks in advance for your time/comments,

Red

sure-

when doing a solvent wash, less time in said solvent the better. certainly no more than two or three minutes. washing in iso for 20-30 seconds provides nice results.

the problem is the solvent breaking down the cellular structures. the best way IMO, is the dry ice method. take a bucket, throw in trim, add chunked dry ice, put bubble bag over the bucket. then;
turn upside downa nd shake. all the trich's will fall out on the table. no cellular breakdown resulting in green yuckiness.

then simply wash the resulting hash in 91% iso and boil off. no heat makes blonde, heat(rice cooker) makes tar.

fdd2blk has a thread around here somewhere, with all the details. good luck!:)

I just use all leaves and small buds that would dry up to nothing or a plant that didn't produce. This way I don't waste good smoke. I do it the same way but I filter it through a bleached nylon stocking and dump the 9% water out at the end of the evaporation process or it makes the hash sticky. With tincture I go a step farther and put the hash (tar) in a glass bottle then fill with extra virgin olive oil. bring a pan of water to a boil put the glass bottle in the pan reduce to a simmer. In about 20 min you give it a shake to infuse the oil with thc. Glycerin can be used for external use. Be careful how much thc you add that stuff will mess you up.

I've made oil for a couple of years now and you really need to define what purpose you're making the oil for. Are you trying to help a patient that has cancer? Are you making oil for a patient to smoke/vaporize? Is for topical uses or ingestion? If trying to combat cancer you need to use only the best of the best for starting material. If making to smoke or vaporize scraps and popcorn buds make a nice concentrate. I would suggest using 99% ISO or 95% Everclear. Everclear is expensive as hell but sometimes 99% ISO is hard to find (guessing because everyone is making oil). I have seen first hand oil do amazing things. I take oil everyday in capsules as well. Check out this link -

Good info here and is where I started my oil making journey. BTW I would not use naphtha. Good luck!

My plants will be combating cancer by ingestion. I emailed Rick Simpson but I'm assuming he's being flooded with email daily.

Did you read the article in the paper about the oil making some guys tumor shrink? It was nice to see some postive Medical Marijuana news.

Hey Red, I'm going to piggyback on your thread, hope that you don't mind. So Simpson Oil, who can tell me where I can find syringes like Rick Simpson uses, with the green mushroom shaped cap? I've been looking, but no luck.

The Macomb Daily the other day had two huge articles on medical marijuana on the cover. The one the guy used to oil to shrink his tumors by 60% in 10 weeks. That's what got me looking into it. Amazing. Cephalopod google "jello shot syringes". I'm thinking those might work

I am a caregiver in Michigan and am currently treating a cancer patient with simpson oil, at no cost to him. I have made the oil quite a few times now. I only use premium bud to make the oil. I soak/wash the buds with 99% Iso for at least 20 minutes, if not a couple of hours. I purchase the 99% Iso at Meijer, sometimes you have to ask for it at the counter. The buds were manicured before soaking. I prefer to soak it a bit longer because there are compounds other than THC in the buds that have medicinal qualities which help with inflamation. If I were just making the oil for recreational vaping, then I would wash 20 minutes or less, just for taste purposes. When the oil is made right, just an amount the size of a cooked piece of rice can keep one medicated for 8-hours or longer when ingesting. Having been on the oil for months has been quite a trip. It is not like smoking marijuana. The oil is so much more potent, it is in an entirely different category. It is pretty strange waking up in the morning stoned. For medicinal use, the oil is the only way to go IMO. When vaping the oil, the effects are similar to smoking mj. Ingesting the oil is much more potent. If you ask me, it is more efficient to make and use the oil vs. smoking buds. I only grow indoors, 100% organic, no pesticides, no chemicals, period.

One negative thing I can say about the oil is after using it for a long time, it is not that easy to stop using it. The only other bad thing is, it is very easy to take too much.

Here is a picture of my last batch of oil. It took approximately 9 oz of premium bud to produce. I used four different strains. I recommend using more than one strain when making a batch of oil.

I have purchased my syringes online. They usually come from a pet supply store. Be sure to search for a 2-tsp syringe with cap. I also get 1-cc syringes for the small, extra amounts and for samples to my patients.

I highly recommend this vaporizer for vaping simpson oil. Essential Eclipse Vape.

Here is a picture of one of the plants that was used in making my oil This is a Dr. Atomic Blueberry Jam, grown indoors.

Just a note: Until you get real good at cooking off the Iso in the rice cooker, it will most likely take 6-12 hours to finish off the process using the coffee cup warmer.

I hope this is helpful for you. :-D

I would like to add that there is another potential downside to taking the oil that I have heard of. Short term memory loss. I highly recommend keeping a small notebook or planner handy to remember things to do or have done. Even something as trivial as taking out the trash, or more important as taking medication such as for blood pressure or even cholesterol.
When taking the oil three doses per day, it gets very easy to forget about having taking medication or taking care of general things around the house.
That is really the only other side effect or negative thing that I can think of. It may not affect everyone the same. It is just an experience that has been reported to me from my patients that are taking the simpson oil.
This is only in reference to a patient that is taking the oil every day, for long term.

Thanks a ton Grow Goddess!!! I'm excited to give this a try. I'm really hoping this will help my patient. Chemo just seems ludicrous to me, but then again I'm far from a doctor. I just have a green thumb.....well pretty much the whole hand lol.

You are welcome!

You make it right, premium bud, follow the directions, and be safe. You will not regret it!
Just be careful on the first sample on how potent it may be.
Every batch I have made seems to have a range between 10 and 20% difference in quality, potentcy, or quantity.

Personally I recommend using at the least 1/4 pound of indoor grown bud (dry). Really 1/2 pound or more is better for efficiency. In my opinion any quantity less than 1/4 pound it seems to be wasteful/inefficient.

In my opinion, simpson oil or hemp oil has the highest medicinal properties of any marijuana product available. Smoking buds does not even compare.

That is such a great thing for you to do for your buddy, you may just be saving his life!

Good luck to you!
