"Simpy" cups for clones

So, this has probably already been done by someone else, but I happened to stumble onto the idea on my own and decided that it's been working well enough to pass on...

The idea was to combine the idea of a Hempy Bucket with a S.I.P.....Basically, a Solo cup with a 1/4"-1/2" hole melted into the side about 1" from the bottom...

...then I took a coiled piece of jute twine and put the bottom of the coil into the bottom of the cup and then positioned the other end of the twine so that it was at the rim of the cup -the wick.

...then I filled the cup with the wick with perlite...yep, just perlite...nothing else.

...then I ran water through it until the perlite was wet.

...I created a hole in the top of the perlite to accept the clone.

...I sprinkled a light dusting of rooting powder into the hole

...I took a fresh clone and lightly dusted it with rooting powder, as well.

...then I placed the clone into the hole and used a clear, plastic Solo cup of the same size and positioned it over the SIMPY cup as a kind of humidity dome and put it literally right under a Cree Home Depot 9.5 watt 5000K "Daylight" bulb...

Done!

The wick seems to distribute/maintain the moisture evenly throughout the perlite better than just doing the perlite by itself.

When the clones begin to grow, I feed them with a solution of 3 grams tomato fertilizer salts + 2 grams of calcium nitrate + 1 gram of epsom salt per gallon of dechlorinated water. I just pour it through like every other day or so...the reservoir of the hempy bucket (cup) makes it almost impossible to underwater and the open, airy nature of the perlite makes it impossible to overwater!

The really weird thing about this is that the jute contains some kind of mushroom spores that will grow out from it! Weird-looking mushrooms, too! Somehow, the plants seem to get along with these mushrooms very well!

Anyway, this is what I do now and it's been working great! Check it out sometime! :)
